C2 is great, but honestly, I don't think it ever hit the level of WTF C1 did because half the WTF moments came from being a bit too loose with the game play Cough cough Keyfish cough cough, and the other half was from Matt's batshit awesome improv on top of their slightly looser game play. They had 2 clerics in C2, (or 1 1/2 ;), but Caduceus can count as 1 1/2 clerics and Jester can count as 1/2 a cleric so the math still works lol) one of whom is a GRAVE cleric, so even when the stakes were really high, they never felt Q U I T E as high as Vox "Our Cleric is busy doing a job for Sarenrae" Machina. Seriously, this is the group that went to hell and didn't bring a Cleric, then forgot to protect the one person that could get them OUT of Hell, Thus (According to a slightly wide eyed Matt Mercer himself!) almost ending the campaign a liiiiiiittle bit earlier than intended!

Actually (this is extra stuff Matt's talked about, I don't think it comes up on any of the streams) the whole reason Artagan was stuck in the Fey Wild to begin with is because he'd been banished there after he tried starting a cult before. So it's pretty par for the course for him.

Spoilers for C1 and C2 I guess... It just sunk in that this is going to be animated. Artagan is a major NPC character, this is a major plot point, they have to do it. There's no getting around this. So unless they radically alter the storyline, we are going to see Artagan choke Vax to death while Grog and Scanlan watch in the fey woods in full animated glory. This is incomprehensible to me.

Not only will it happen, but it will happen without all of the out-of-character comments (hilariously) breaking the tension. I genuinely hope that they lean into what a dark and uncomfortable moment it realistically would be.

@@kaniamia yeah, now, we can still have Scanlan and Grog break the tension somewhat (if the writers finally stop toning down how much of a dick Scanlan is, I say with love) the masturbation joke combined with Scanlan's grossed out admiration of Artagan and Grog being proud of Vax will serve to break the tension very well. They can totally keep some of Travis' insane giddiness, Grog knows Vax will come back (or so Vax says, and Grog believes him), so it wouldn't be out of character for him to be excited about Vax doing something crazy. But yeah, laura said liam was making horrific choking sound effects next to her and you can faintly hear them if you listen close, I can only imagine what he's going to do when given free rein to go ham.
