Outstanding. As an expert in survival training. I have tried and tried to tell people about the GARMIN INREACH MINI 2. They say. We do not spend much time in the outdoors. I just say. The outdoors might just come to you one day. It's worth its wight in gold. I carry mine everywhere every day.

The children helping with restoring things should help them lower any anxiety they may have. Having control, getting control helps a great deal with post trauma stress. Bri and Art, I am so sorry your area was so heavily impacted your area. We're in North Central Florida, but not on the coast. Yes, Art, tornadoes are spawned by hurricanes. I'm continually praying for all of you affected by this horrible storm and the torrential rain. Because of my asthma, we went to the hurricane shelter overnight, but by noon on the Friday after Helene passed through, the sun was shining and we were home. I cannot begin to say how very sorry I am that this has happened. Our prayers for all of you continue. We had so little damage at our home that it's not even worth mentioning (less than $100), and a few tree limbs down, but absolutely nothing catastrophic. Our prayers are with you and your entire family, as well as your fellow citizens there! We are once again faced with another hurricane here. I would like to pray that this new storm would go elsewhere, but I absolutely cannot in good conscience wish it on others, but I do pray that the wind shear from the north will just destroy the storm. May God continue to bless you and yours always and keep you safe during this terrible disaster.

If you really are in doubt about hooking up a generator just go to your meter and pull it out of the box. This isolates you from the power company also turn your main breaker off too. 😊
@SDCourage272 ай бұрын
There should always be a switch to turn off the main so no power back flows to the lines. Also the big things you need are extra extension, or some basic instructions printed out prior to disasters so you know what you can safely do what you need to do. Laminate them.. Thank you for all you are doing and prayers to all of you and those out helping one another.

I had the switch put in 4 years ago, but we have never practiced using it with our generators. We will next weekend.
@SDCourage272 ай бұрын
@@TheHazchic it’s hard to know when you will need “all the things” unfortunately. I am in a place where I can and often lose power in multiple seasons so unfortunately I am well versed from ice storms and summer storms, & flooding is also a problem so if I didn’t have to know where all the main switches were in all weather I wouldn’t have said anything but if you can practice and a have some basics laminated and near by also well marked switches are helpful. I use glow tags and bigger lettering. Water and electrical are my nemesis. 🤦🏻♀️

It's awesome that you are well prepared and each of you bring your own talents. Don'😮t underestimate what each of you bring to the table. We got hit hard last year with an ice storm and 6 day power outage. Roads were too icy to drive for the first 2 days. My job was to know where the candles, firestarters, batteries were and what food would be the best to eat first. We all have a role to play. But we all need to work towards being better prepared.
