Owning a 7.3L myself I recommend replacing all the engine sensors with the OE sensors from Motorcraft, keep a cam position sensor in the glove box, change the speed sensor in the rear axle, and change the valve cover gaskets as they contain the injector harness internally and they go bad every few years. Install a gear vendor it will pay for itself in fuel economy and you can cruise at 70-80 under 2000rpm. Lastly they run a lot better and quieter with a touch of oil in the diesel at each fill up. 16oz oil to 36gal is about what I run.
@Diebog18 күн бұрын
I can confirm the same! You need oem sensors, and they all should be replaced. Buying anything else is a total waste of money as they will fail prematurely every time. I’ve gone down that road on my 7.3 and paid the price think I was “saving” money. Valve cover gaskets are a must change if they haven’t been updated.

On the other side of that, is when something goes wrong, they say you can fix it, and you have no faith you can. You say you can't; it is hopelessly broken. Then you have an idea, it works, it is fixed, and they yell at you for always giving up. But like, they don't understand, without that eureka, it WAS hopeless! If that happens again and again over 20 years, they literally will not believe you can't fix something. Alien spacecraft is in the back yard, and we need to fix and fly it to escape certain doom, and they be like, "OK, I will grab some Mtn Dew, and Cheetos and take care of the kid. You get crackin' on that fix." - Um, right, this is literally impossible this time. I swear it, this time it is impossible! "I can't hear you!"

@josephdover19815 күн бұрын
@@miketully9592 Oh my god I would surely hope not. The 7.3 V8 powerstroke diesel is a bulletproof motor. The V10 not so much. This is just a case of this thing not being used in 16 years. I wouldn't have driven it anywhere without changing all of the fluids, plugs, fuel filter and whatever else you can think of for a vehicle that's just been sitting. The worst thing you can do to a vehicle is let it sit.

@1982MCI13 күн бұрын
@@josephdover198letting a diesel sit 10-20-25 years is completely different from letting a gasser set. Diesel fuel does not go bad like gas and gum up. I’ve started tractors and big trucks with 15-20 year old fuel and I just drove my Coach from Florida to NC after sitting 10 years and my only issue was the blower belt that snapped. As long as your rubber parts are decent, crank her up after pouring an algaecide in the fuel tank to kill off growth, carry a spare fuel filter and run that B’! The diesels don’t have plugs to change like a gasser and my Detroit doesn’t even have glow plugs like the power stroke does. As long as nothings leaking or badly cracked and your fluids are good then drive and monitor oil pressure, coolant temps, EGT, turbo psi, etc and that will tell you if anything is needed

What a dream camper! I thought my partner and I struck gold buying a 1987 Chevrolet G30 cutaway motorhome that had 53000 miles on it. We are currently on the road just south of Salt Lake City after traveling 5000 miles from Alberta Canada, and that's more than enough miles for us! Love the truck, love the energy and will be loving the upcoming videos on this beast!

Just started watching, haven't finished yet, but had to say, this reminds me so much of my trip from Texas to Ohio in January of 2023, to pick up a Custom Coach Corporation 1982 MCI MC9 bus conversion. I wired the money, and purchased it after I had it inspected by a professional. My main concern was rust, shockingly none was found. It had only 151K on the clock, these are million miles plus vehicles, but she still needs some love here and there, and they are expensive to bring back up to par, after that just routine maintenance. I always liked the looks of the Camper that you guys bought, and they were well built. Good luck.

As a former OBS diesel owner (mine was stolen 2 years ago) here's a couple tips. You should always syphon the oil out of the HPOP reservoir when doing an oil change and refill it completely with fresh oil. This will help with the longevity of the high pressure oil pump and overall cleanliness of your oil. Also, on the in-tank fuel pickup, it only extends to the bottom of the tank with a nylon scoop/screen. The scoop breaks down with the diesel fuel and needs to be replaced. Symptoms of a bad fuel pickup are inability to access all the fuel in the tank and short life span of your fuel pump because the pickup screen is no longer filtering rust and debris from the fuel. The steel tanks are prone to rust from condensation/water. Best upgrade: convert rear drum brakes to disk brakes. I love the Revcon and hope it brings much joy. 😀
@coryconner770314 күн бұрын
I'm glad someone brought up the fuel pick up. I had the exact same thing happen on the side of the road and couldn't figure it out. I now only run mine to 1/4 tank before I fill it up.

I just finished watching, and now I want to find a Revcon 4x4, and sell my coach lol. That thing is so cool, and you can take it anywhere. I love my bus, but it needs tires and that is an 8K plus hit right there for good ones. Seeing that you had to buy tires and wheels on the trip was really something. Your calmness under pressure with the few things that went wrong, was impressive. We drove my bus from northern Ohio, to Texas over two days, with no issues, except the air windshield wipers wouldn't work with both of them on, in an ice storm, so we just used the drivers side, stopped and got some rainex to help. I drove it to Nappanee Indiana from Texas in September of 2023 with only a few hours behind the wheel time, and I left at night, terrible idea, but I made it almost there before my first breakdown, which was the starter, but was able to make it the rest of the trip, before starter finally gave up the ghost, but that was after I got back home. Got a few videos on it.

Mixed with fresh fries and sauce brun gravy makes the famous Quebec Poutine - Food of the Gods! Our curds are white - Wisconsins orange. Same flavour. They can be frozen. Defrost and soak in warm water (86F/30C) to restore the squeak.
