Appreciate your take on all this Kory -- I tend to resist any kind of rules in making art but you present them in such a way that they seem much less threatening -- and maybe even helpful :)

Well said! Haha. I felt the same way for a long time. But I didn’t understand how to make my focal point pop and how to keep a person looking at the work. It’s fun to gain a new perspective. Plus, I think looking at them as secrets doesn’t steal any of the fun from the process. 😉🎨

Those paintings were so interesting, I'm assuming much of the texture was lost in the photographic process? They reminded me of batik fabric designs. Just goes to show that the principles of design matter even when working more abstractly.

Great point. They really do look very batik. Yes, there’s always some loss when translating into a photograph. Are you a textile artist? It’s such a huge element in artwork. Looking at pictures is not the same as looking at the original.
