I did this years ago. It doesn't matter how you print the image. You can take any picture, even cut one from a magazine. It's the stuff you put on it that makes it work. Some of the comments complaining or even asking for you to hold their hand are annoying. I appreciate you giving this content to us free of charge.

As an adaptation to this have you tried using water slide decals printed with a pigment inkjet printer or laser printer? It gets rid of the rubbing stage and possibly the coats of glue on the canvas and the transparent decal. A spray sealant might be a better overcoat. Of course the other option is to get a large inkjet printer that can print to canvas. For smaller letter/legal size inkjet printers there is printable canvas & fabric sheets usually found in craft stores. Use some tiling/poster software to split a single large image into smaller sections. This would allow you to create the look of a larger piece using existing printers.

This is great fun. I actually had a go at this myself about three or four years ago when I took a photograph of my furry friend s black and white Tuxedo Cat. I used a system called Modge Podge, which produces similar results also requiring the use of water and a cloth as you describe in your demonstration. Doing stuff like this can be very cathartic and rewarding and is an amazing fun pastime. Love this video.💯🌞

First time here. Glad I found you. I have. Question,why did you spread the gel on both the canvas and the photo? I’ve been trying this a few times and I only spread it in the canvas. First time I did it it came out ok but not as vivid in color,the 2nd time I wet it too much and took some of the photo off the canvas. This will be my 3rd time trying; which is why I went looking for someone else to show me the how to. First two times I just followed instructions I read with no video.

I have an easier and less expensive method that can be applied to a drawing board with a size of two meters or more. It only requires an image of the required size from 10 x 10 to 200 x 200 cm or more, and the cost is 90% less. It even has the advantage of being able to cancel any shape in the original image (erase it or replace it with something more appropriate to the topic). Thank you.

Should I have waited longer for it to dry or was I rubbing the paper too hard? Thank you!

Hey Joe it sounds like you used an inkjet print... the print needs to be a laser print (pigment based) usually a colour photocopy at the print shops is a laser print... Because the inkjet is waterbed it will wash away and become like a watercolour... 😜 let me know how you go....
@powertexaustralia9230
@powertexaustralia9230 Жыл бұрын
Joe ... if the image is coming off the canvas and you used a laser print (so it hasn't transferred) it can be: 1. the surface of the canvas wasn't prepared properly (primed with gesso) 2. the solution dried while you were doing the transfer process (working faster will resolve this)... I hope that helps... 😜 Have FUN!!!!🎨🎨🎨

I definitely try it... it would be really interesting... it would need to be on a light-coloured pour thats not too textured 😜There is a way of transferring onto textured surfaces with the medium 😜

Thank you so much for this amazing video. I appreciate it very much. Very detailed and explained. Easy to follow. ***May I ask what kind of photo to start with? Is it ink jet copied on photo paper? Thank you for taking the time to answer. I know there are a lot of questions being asked. ***PS. I always use captions just so I don’t miss any information. It’s nice you offer that option, many do not. TY

Hey Raine... its a laser print on copy paper 80-100 GSM (not inkjet)... you can get them done at you local print shop and the quality is really good for transferring... it's a LOT of FUN to play with 😜🎨🎨🎨🎨 enjoy creating!

I use Powerprint Photo Transfer Medium... it releases the ink into the solution so it works best when you apply to both surfaces... I LOVE this medium for photo Transfers... I have just done a Livestream : How to Transfer Photos to metal (which is worth watching) and there is another YT video that Ive created: "What is Powerprint" which will explain more and is definitely worth a watch! I REALLY like this medium ... once you get the process right (which is like learning to ride a bike) you will find it super EASY and it will give you fantastic results!!! Enjoy...

Where can I buy this product such as glows and glossy?
@simongross3122
@simongross3122 5 ай бұрын
That's really interesting, thank you. I have a few questions: Does the image transfer happen because the ink from your photo is deposited, or does the powerprint product somehow duplicate it? Can the transfer happen onto any surface, or does it need to be canvas? Once an image is transferred, can I transfer more images on top so as to superimpose images? Thanks.
@powertexaustralia9230
@powertexaustralia9230 5 ай бұрын
Yes the transfer works because the ink form the laser print is deposited on the new surface... yes you can transfer to many different surfaces...and yes you can superimpose images!!! Lots of possibilities... FUN FUN FUN!!! Im sure you'll love it! You'll find details of the products in the description...

Thanks a lot for the tutorial!!! I have a question. Can I apply a photo to the canvas with texture paste or plaster, or with acrylic paint. Or does the canvas have to be absolutely clean? Thank you.
@powertexaustralia9230
@powertexaustralia9230 Жыл бұрын
Hey there... you can certainly experiment! I find it doesn't transfer as well to textured surfaces however you can overlay the image over light coloured surfaces e.g. black & white - where the image is white there is no ink so the acrylic painted layer will come through creating a ghost image

You're welcome... Im glad you enjoyed it! ☺ You need to seal the canvas with gesso or Powertex Ivory or white... then yes you could use acrylic (light colours) before transferring the image - the colour will come through where the photo is white 😜🎨

Whats the point of transfer when you gloss it afterwards ? Might have well just have glued the original photo onto the canvas.
@powertexaustralia9230
@powertexaustralia9230 8 ай бұрын
Hey John there is greater manipulation possible with the photo transfer ... where the white of the photo is becomes translucent so you can payer images or have an under painting ☺ you dont have to add the glossy you could leave it or seal it with matt as an alternative 😜🎨🎨
