Hey Raf, awesome stuff with Artblast. I was wondering if you would find it an interesting to discuss in-depth the psychology of being an artist, the hardships behind the curtain and all the struggle. Usually people see the beauty shots, the polished sculpts, but all the doubts, the hardships, the self-inquiry and so forth remain hidden. An episode like that will be very resourceful.

Great interview. I hope everyone understands, it's much easier for us to hire & bring you to US if you have a university degree. He's lucky he was able to qualify with partial degree, but a lot of rules are changing now. If you're in a country that offers free school, I'd strongly suggest you take advantage of it rather than move to US for art school & go $150k into debt. You're better off to get degree & develop skills in your nation of origin, then apply

1:31:30 watching this interview in Vancouver where it is cloudy, rainy and depressing most of the time including right now haha. By the way, I am also Vitally and also from Moldova. I used to do 3D modelling and Vitaly's art work has always been a great source of inspiration. However, I could never develop such insane level of details. I guess my imagination is way limited in this area. Now I do FX and I love it much more than modelling.

@rmlambert954 жыл бұрын
Both are mental, you're probably thinking about the physical side but we can already gather most people cannot push their mind to grow as hard as Vitaly did, otherwise he wouldn't stand out in the field that much, top 1% is top 1% regardless of medium or subject
@besteleben10934 жыл бұрын
@@rmlambert95 no I'm talking about the mental side. Yeah I'm sure he's worked through being tired and making sacrifices but being a seal i just something different and Im guessing neither you or him know anything about that. If he went through that then he can talk about it, but I just have a different kind of respect for people putting their live on the line and going just through completely different kind of pain physically and emotionally. Im sure Vitaliy doesnt wake up some day with PTSD from staying up a couple days in a row building his kitbash library ;)
@vitalybulgarov99644 жыл бұрын
@Beste Leben @Rjeeez 95 Hey guys, agree with both of you. Perhaps I should be more clear that I use that example as an inspiration and a model for a kind of thinking that pushes your mental barriers and not a direct side-by-side comparison because you obviously can't reasonably compare me sitting in a comfortable chair doing CG with a whole other level of actual suffering, pressure as well as risk-to-life danger that people go through in special forces training. It is however a useful tool to illustrate a certain outlook artists can take to their craft(even if it's an occasional self-check test or some kind of art-bootcamp) in order to put a healthy pressure on themselves and push themselves to grow beyond what they thought they were capable of. The beauty of special forces analogy is how extreme, raw and clear the "signal" of that analogy is. So when I say something was "my personal hell week" I do mean to illustrate 2 important things: 1. I did take inspiration from military approach to mental training as far as prolonged state of exhaustion goes in order to trigger neuro-plasticity, stimulate mental stamina + creative problem solving + psychological side of coping with stress. 2. it was far, faaar different from a normal working week or even a "normal" 70-hour crunch week. Hope that gives you more context/clarity in-to my thinking there. Cheers!
