You obviously don't know many Zbrush artists. Grassetti is ok, but he's certainly no great. There's FAR better than him that never get a platform at all, never invited to Zbrush's little gatherings. Do some research and see.

to expand on the question in 1:00:24 i think Rafael is trying to say learn fundamentals. Fundamentals is the most important thing for young artist to learn. Perspective, learning how to research and etc. I see a lot of young artist like he stated jumping straight into designing when they dont even know how to.

I would say that getting confortable with the software its also a big part of initiation, even knowing that zbrush is kinda easy to use
@kamekage65625 жыл бұрын
@@alexruas6235 Zbrush is by no means easy software, at least from my expereince, I spent 2 years doing an HND in games development, I worked in Unreal, Maya, Blender, Zbrush, Photoshop. Any by far Zbrush was the most complicated, or at least had the biggest learning curve it doesn't have the friendliest UI.
@damiaanthelen51595 жыл бұрын
@@kamekage6562 While zbrush has an unfriendly UI, you don't need a lot of it to make good lucking art. So once you filter what you actually need, it's fairly straighforward.
@SuWoopSparrow5 жыл бұрын
Most artists in the video game industry lack fundamentals. Video games far and wide are not well "designed". Pretty to look at, sure. Good looking =/= good design.
@alexruas62355 жыл бұрын
@@kamekage6562 i mean, beginners can do the do amazing work with only 3-5 brushes. but of course if your no beginner, you need to get deep into zbrush's alien interface, but new comers can just get things done at their own pace. you probably forgot but despite the first scare when you open the software you can just start sculpting - get comfortable.

Wendell Freire but how can he vertex paint without clear uv?
@GarudaPSN5 жыл бұрын
@@IanBrandonAnderson-d1s you don't need UVs for vertex painting. As the name implies, vertex painting assigns a color to each individual vertice on your mesh, so there's no texture maps or anything. He then has a shader in 3ds max that takes that information into account and renders it accordingly.

just curious, how old is rafael today? I know that he started in 2004. I also want to be a character artist but maybe it's too late for me?
@imthatguybrandon4 жыл бұрын
it's never too late my friend. It is true that if you start younger you have more time to develop, but nothing beats hard work. But, at the end of the day it's about how much work you're willing to put in. But Character artist jobs are tough to get it's very competitive. That is why a lot of ppl starting down that path end up as an environment artist. not trying to discourage you, but letting you know it's tough. But if you really want to do it then do it forget about the time. You got one life to live why waste it wondering what if and give it a shot.
