Commissioned Custom Medal Casting & Double Sided Coin - Melting Bronze At Home

In this video I will be casting a custom commissioned medal and a double sided uncharted coin in solid bronze. I was asked to make this for a friend so that's what I did. I started by modeling the medal and printing it on my 3d printer. I then made a mold of the medal in petrobond sand. I melted down some scrap aluminum bronze that I had and poured the molten metal into the mold. I also poured the medal into a double sided coin mold which are available on my website below. How do you tell between Brass and Copper or any metal at all ? Just by it’s melting point ?

Brass and Bronze are alloys that contain mostly copper. Brass being a mixture of copper and zinc, whereas Bronze being of copper and tin, with a small percentage of nickel, zinc and/or aluminium. The melting point is dictated by the metal with the highest melting temperature, which unsurprisingly is copper at 1082°C/1984° F.
