Japan has the right to protect their country. Japanese are very nationalist, polite, industrious, supportive of peace and assisted many countries in time of trouble or disaster. However, Japanese are so brave and has the capability to inflict damage especially to those Bully nation like China. I'm a Filipino and has a great respect for Japanese people.

The problem with you is that you don’t study history and choose to view the world in a narrow perspective. If you study history , you will know how barbaric Japan was .You as a filipino should know this. If you accept the military expansion of a country without questioning it , you are simply being simplistic and naive. China is many things , good and bad but it doesn’t have a history of conquering other countries and colonialism. You don’t have to be a friend with someone to live alongside someone. Just try to view the world more objectively and question everything and everyone.

Japan isn't going backward but trying to be able to survive in a hostile environment before it becomes a victim of its own pacifism. The past times of Japan's war in WW2 was for a whole different reason and a different mindset, this time is to insure survival.

While renouncing war seems like noble cause, it is foolish to keep your gate open when the wolves are trying to get in. Because they have suffered under previous wars, they among many know that you must protect yourself. They aren't talking about creating a massive aggressive military with millions upon millions of offensively minded soldiers. We're talking about equipment and munitions that will make any agressor think twice about attacking Japanese interests.

This is no longer “Imperial Japan” ruled by the emperor. Like the British royal family, the emperor is but a figurehead. Japan has no nuclear weapons. Japan has to be the most powerful military outside of China in the Asian region. To think Japan will return to a militaristic expansionist power is like saying Germany will do the same & take over its European neighbors again.
@ReuterL
@ReuterL 2 ай бұрын
Germany apologised sincerely for its crimes, had entire generations and literatures learning on the wrongs and rehabilitate. Schools are teaching the crimes and the failures throughoutly. Japan denies any attempt at teaching the people about their crimes. Their population and pupils are not allowed to learn it in schools. They have temples and shrines still worshipping those war criminals. South Koreans and Taiwanese are still traumatised by the Japanese occupation and hate them for it especially for never apologising. The only apologies they are willing to do are vague, sorry for what wrongs were done during a war and East Asians/South East Asians hate them for it You can't compare the situation in Germany and Japan.

Douglas MacArthur, Commander-in-Chief of the Occupation Forces, was deeply involved in the creation of Japan's Constitution. He wanted to make Japan incapable of ever again militarily opposing the United States. He ordered the Japanese to include a clause in the draft constitution that "forbids all foreign wars and the possession of military power.

Japan is actually engaged in both an offensive as well as defensive modernization. First time since WWII Japan that has reversed its non offensive capabilities policy and has begun developing weapon systems to achieve that goal. Japan has tied its national security to that of Taiwan. Meaning if China attacks Taiwan, Japan declares war on China.

There is an old saying and I believe it is Russian, "Talking is okay but always carry a dagger in your pocket"! Isn't it possible to be pacifist but have a strong national defense at the same time? The war in Ukraibe should be an example of how otherwise peaceful countries can be attacked by predatory neighbors! I can assure you Chima is a predatory neighbor that is probing the defenses of countries such as Vietnam, the Philippines and Japan! China's posturing isn't just about Taiwan!

China may respond with similar actions as those once inflicted upon them. Think back to the horrific events of 1937, when Japan's campaign of rape, murder, and abuse spread across Asia. But now, those who were once victims have emerged as a formidable force, capable of exerting their own power and influence on the global stage.
