9 years later... Yeah he got a legacy of singing good but hes not heard of anymore and still a douche. Sometimes you judge books by covers, huh? Almost like...that's what the fucking cover is there for. If you radiate being a scummy junkie, then continue to act like one, why else would people read past your cover?

Addiction never leaves you. Can only imagine, same thing with Anthony Green and plenty of other influential musicians / comedians. Takes 100 times the amount of strength and energy to actively go out of your way to not resort back to the addiction. Takes half a breath to fall back in the trap. Comes down to how much you want it, and coping mechanisms as you do life without substance. Also the perspective on life / outlook mentally. Need to keep yourself grounded. Hard drugs are hard habits to break. "Old habits die hard"

Jonny Craig and Tyler Carter are and will ALWAYS be 2 of the top vocalist I've ever heard in my life. Even in his downfall you cannot deny the pure talent Jonny Craig has. I've never heard someone carry their voice range so effortlessly like he does especially while switching tones like he was BORN to do this! It takes alot of people years of vocal coaching to do something he does naturally. Pure talent and yet he is so underrated by the industry. I appreciate Jonny Craig for his talents and will always stay a huge fan. From the westerHALTS days when he was 14/15 years old to now in 2024.

I relate so strongly to the lyrics in this song. "I wanna get out, I'm sick of giving in to these demons." "With eyes wide open, all I see, is, the dark, another hit another mark, a small pinch and my whole world starts to spark, if I had another chance I can't say what, I'd do" And then the whole chorus. Love this song. And it has definitely helped me get past my demons and addictions. Thank you slaves and Jonny Craig for putting my thoughts into this beautiful masterpiece!

the perspective of those stuck in addiction...hmm this song helps to replenish my ability to have compassion for those stuck in heavy addiction, including my ex. sometimes they do really shitty things, but even though they lie and act selfish and cold, they're still human with real human emotions that get lost in their own pain and chaos. here's a prayer or 2 for those who are fighting crippling addiction to see that there is hope to "get out". Props to jonny craig for being real about the fight.

This song will never get old for me and it hits home every time. He gets what's it's like to be in love with your drug of choice and wanting to change/trying to change but keeps going back because it has becomes your lover, best friend, family and friends and they only way you know how to cope. if you have never experienced substance abuse then you have no idea what i'm talking about and that's okay, it means drugs have never controlled you; however, don't judge or think your better then those who suffer from there addiction. Any person who is battling their substance abuse or trying to get clean for the 100th time and trying to stay that way. if you know anyone who is trying to get/stay clean and sober encourage them to keep going and not give up or in.

My current boyfriend is a recovered addict, and the lyrics to this song, coupled with his stories of past struggles and the daily choice to live sober just breaks my heart. If anyone reading this is battling addiction or any other kind of demons, just know this; you are loved. You can pull through it. If no one else believes in you, then I'm telling you that even though we've never met, I absolutely believe in you. Stay strong. Every storm cloud runs out of rain 🖤

I'm currently a heroin addict. I try to get clean so many times but can't ever make it past 2 days. The withdrawal gets so bad and I always give in. I don't have insurance and can't afford rehab so I have to cold turkey it, but like I said, i can never make it past 2 days :/ idk how I'm ever going to get out of this lifestyle. Oh but btw, you're boyfriend is a "recovering addict" All the NA/AA meetings I've been to, say there's no such thing as a "recovered addict" even if they have years of sobriety, because they have to deal with it every day for the rest of their lives and can always easily fall into it again. I've met people with over 20+ years sober that have relapsed and had to start all over again. So never be to careful to think he is a "recovered" addict

Just saw these guys live and he literally sounds even better live than on recordings. Legitimately one of the best singers alive right now. Also, with respect to his actions in the past...I think some of you have never had anyone in your life struggle with addiction. It warps you. He did try out for The Voice, but they said he was "too controversial" for the show or something like that if I remember correctly. Probably because of his drug habit. It's a shame though, because he is super talented and has a great voice. twitter.com/jonnycraig4L/status/316382935076966401 Although, they probably would have locked him into some awful contract or something if he did make it. I'm glad he still puts out post-hardcore/rock stuff. I wouldn't want to hear a country or pop Jonny Craig. Tyler Carter on the other hand though...

I met him when I was 14 at warped me and my friend walked out the wrong entrance and ended up in the lot with all the bands buses he was FUCKED UP standing by himself like he was waiting for us and told us to hop on a bus and live our life and head to the next town and party and to this day I still wish I did fuck what the Consequences would have been would have been worth it but what he said resonated with me and I battled addiction myself but Jonny really is a good person inside we talked for 15-20 mins also met the lead volcalist from miss may I he was working out outside his bud they had a whole gym setup almost what a cool experience I love to tell people about it cause it’s once in a lifetime thing

Let's go back for the last time, when you breathe you lie Pretty thing keep your mouth closed, and those legs tangled close Dear shame, are you forever? I'll never know what it's like to keep my head from spinning I'll carry the flame for you, I'll carry the weight for you In that moment I don't need to think twice, the end of a shattered life. Oh man, Jonny really saves this song with those r&b vocal harmonies once again, reminds me of Too Close To Touch, who may or may not have released their album after this, but they sound influenced by classic J Craig. I'm glad that Jonny hasn't completely misused his talents, even if the chug-heavy djent guitars styles at the beginning of this track hinted at something cliche, this song suprised me as it went on, I'm really liking this track overall.

@@griffisjm He has hurt so many people in his wake. He has been abusive to just about every girlfriend he has had, he has gotten some of them addicted to heroin, and from what most of the post hardcore scene has said about him, he is just a self centered unempathetic person. The fact that such an asshole of a person was given such an amazing voice and talent is such a tragedy to the world. For me at least, it prevents me from enjoying that talent to its fullest. I still listen to it, with some guilt. It's just too good to avoid.
@griffisjm
@griffisjm 3 жыл бұрын
@@QualityQman first of all unless he tied someone down and injected them with heroin then he absolutely did not "get some of them addicted to heroin", they chose that shit themselves. As far as the girlfriends go, I could never condone abuse but most I would imagine knew exactly who they were getting involved with and were at least 50% of the dysfunctional relationship and at least one of them( the animal girl) is a batshit crazy hypochondriac drama queen. If he is an unempathetic self centered person I would almost guarantee that it is a result if the heroin addiction, that's not an excuse but it sheds light on why he acts the wat he does and more than likely he has some true demons that led to his addiction and his artistic influence that makes him be able to perform on a higher level and without that you would never have heard his name so saying it is a tragedy he as a troubled person has this voice makes no sense. Most of all what really intrigues me is the fact that you believe you are so much better than him, it's obvious in the was you spoke so do not deny it, and yes maybe you have avoided drugs and troubled relationships but if you would sit down and take inventory of your life and actions you would see how much you have done wrong and hurt people, WE ALL HAVE!! I'm not condoning his actions but don't act like in one way or another we haven't all screwed the pooch and let people down, and I can guarantee you he may have helped through his music MANY MORE people than he has hurt.

@@griffisjm You could make all those same arguments if he was a repeated pedophile. Unfortunately, there are lines that shouldn't be crossed. And yes, as a 40 year old addict and alcoholic, I can say I'm a better person than Jonny. Coming from experience, Addiction is not an excuse. I've never stolen, physically abused anyone, nor encouraged other people to be an addict with me. You can always separate the art for the artist which I always make an attempt to do, but no way can I say he is deserving of it. He was lucky to hit the genetic lottery to sing the way he can but he is not deserving of it. Most people will agree with me. A few will agree with you. All is seems you are doing is looking for ways to justify his character flaws because you soooo badly want to enjoy such a great talent from a good, deserving person. We all do. Some of us would rather not become delusional to get it. I highly recommend you do more research about him. There is a great 3 part series about the rise and fall of Jonny Craig on KZbin that I highly recommend if you are a Jonny Craig fan. Check it out. In the meantime, I'll continue to enjoy such an amazing voice with a bittersweetness as well as sense of loss of what he could have been and how much more his voice could have inspired and helped people.

Deserves it? Him being deserving or not is completely irrelevant... Talent is talent. And take a look at some of the most recognizable artists over the last few decades... If their popularity/career/album sales/success were based upon them as people being "deserving" or not would you be as aware of their music as you are now? Doubt it. 🤔 🤷‍♀️ Let's just see if we can name a few....? Elvis!? Kurt Cobain of Nirvana!? Bradley Nowell of Sublime!? Jimmy Hendrix!? Janis Joplin!? Amy Whitehouse? Whitney Houston!? Michael Jackson!?...... Please, feel free to add any that come to mind... 😒 So yes, there may be some foul words spoken in the music industry about Jonny Craig as a person and I am sure others involved have been given reasons to speak their opinions... But his personal struggles, prior mistakes or intimate relationships are not to be used against him to determine if he is "deserving" of a successful career or not! Please sit the f-ck down with that argument... 👎 Talent is talent!!

"The title is about my ex, I hate her man. She would always tell me that I’m empty all the time and that I was hitting on girls all the time and all that shit. The song itself is about me overcoming my demons by quitting heroin. You’ll hear “I wanna get out, I wanna get out” quite a lot. That’s me pretty much struggling with shooting up and how long it took me to get away, and the fact that now I’m so far past that, I wanted to write a song about it. I wanted it to be subtle, but to have the undertone that I’ve overcome this struggle." - Jonny Craig
