Love it! There are certainly a lot of bones in that skeleton!

I must say assembling the skeleton of Artesania ships looks pretty cool. Very interesting. Anyway, great work mate, as usual 😉

There is certainty a lot involved with them but interesting. Thanks mate 😊

quite an intricate frame, it looks quite sturdy

Hi Grant , There is certainly a lot involved, and it is very strong at this point.

@GregWilson6357 ай бұрын
The ship doesn't come with plans, only instructions on CD. The frame of ship is plywood and all the rest is white birch wood.

The frames are relatively thin, but the construction looks very rigid. Good work, Greg.

Thanks Wolfgang , it is a very strong frame considering how thin the frames are.

6:43 you may know this: when putting wood tabs into wood slots, ease the leading edges of the tabs to help guide them in place. The laser cuts are so precise that if you try and get a little burr on the front edge they won't go in. If you chamfer the edge slightly that'll make it like a wedge and it should pop right in.
@GregWilson635 Жыл бұрын
I will definitely try that in future thanks. It was a bit of a surprise that they were reasonably tight, considering the rest of assembly so far has been loose

@@GregWilson635 I have a cnc machine and 1 project was putting 3d acrylic letters into recessed in a reception counter front. The cuts were so accurate that if the letters were a little frayed, and off center, they wouldn't go in. Same as when I cut mortises and tenons, too accurate and any deviation they won't go in. A little light sanding on the edge helps them slide in. (like a funnel).

24:11 wow she's gonna be a biggun isn't she? Question for you: have you had any issues with the wood glue adhering to the laser burnt edges?
@GregWilson635 Жыл бұрын
She is going to be very big , and I have no idea where I will put it once completed. No, I haven't had any problems so far with adhesion. I used the same glue with the Soleil without a problem also.

@@GregWilson635 As for placement, I know right? I've moved 3 times and haven't taken my 3 out of boxes because I don't know where to put them. I built display cases for them to keep the dust off. That's good to hear about the glue, I always wondered about that. I'm this >< close to buying a 150W co2 laser cutting machine and it can purr through 1/4" ply like butter. Thought about making stuff and that's why I asked about the glue on the edges.

@@muskokamike127 Sometime in the future I'd like to scratch build a ship. Just going to take a while to collect the tools I need. I could see myself losing a hand with a laser. Haha

@@GregWilson635 haha me too! I have a cnc router and looked into equipping it with a co2 laser. The way they work is the glass tube mounts at the back and they use mirrors to reflect the laser light. In a dedicated laser machine, it's all enclosed. In a cnc router, the beam is exposed. I nixxed that idea for that very reason! Not only having so much sawdust in the air mixed with a laser beam = FIRE lol
