If I were you I would spend a lot of time staring at and admiring the model. Beautiful model and execution. It is my dream model, but I don't know if I would ever be able to afford the kit.

Great job Greg. If it wasn’t for you and Roger I might not have gone for this kit. Hopefully I’ll be staring it soon once I’ve completed the San Felipe.
@GregWilson635Ай бұрын
Thanks, Phil. It ends up a nice-looking ship. Not without it's problems but they are surmountable. What company makes your San Felipe?

@philsreef746 ahh that's a nice kit. I've seen some incredible builds of it on YT
@philsreef746Ай бұрын
@ It’s a nice kit with a good selection of wood. The AL kits tend to have the same wood and you have to rely on lots of wood stain to get the desired effect.
@GregWilson635Ай бұрын
@philsreef746 the wood in Occre kits is much nicer

Greg, congratulations on the build. The result is amazing. Looking forward to your progress on the HMS Victory, I'm sure the result will be an even more beautiful ship. To keep improving is the goal in this hobby. By the way, did you ever finish the L'Hermione? After a 2 year break I'm back working on mine. I'm finding some useful tips from your videos to overcome some of the problems. Hopefully it will look as good as your ship when it's done.
@GregWilson635Ай бұрын
Thanks very much. I'm afraid L'Hermione has been put aside for now. I was having considerable difficulties with it. Things that I could overcome now but at the time were daunting. Victory should keep me out of trouble for quite some time.

Congratulations and well done on finishing this beautiful ship. It definitely reminds me of my Sovereign of seas 😊 I bet you feel so proud now of finally it's finished after 2.5 years 😊 so many people either on youtube or forums just gave up after few months because they didn't realize how much work goes into these models. You mentioned plastic model kits. I used to do plastic Tank models, I have so many of them.😆 The manual on CD would be deal breaker for me as I got these ships to spend as little time on pc so this would be no from me. I want to make small comment on your threads, not sure if you use beeswax on your threads as it does make them so much better and more realistic and also more rigid and protects them in long run, at least I can see they don't sag as much as the ones without the beeswax, but there is downside of lots of mess and they are dust magnet. I always used beeswax on all my ships. Speaking on mistakes and faults. I always say I know it's there, I see it and I am not happy even though no one else can it, they just see beautiful ship. But well done, this looks amazing especially for your first model, well done of not giving up.
@GregWilson635Ай бұрын
Thanks very much, mate. I was told about bees wax once I was finished with the rigging. Something I will do on the next build. There were definitely times when I thought i had bitten off more than I could chew, but eventually worked my way through it. These kits are addictive
