Hi G Kip ! I'm still amazed that the finest kit still has crudely cut blocks in it, and not properly shaped ones like the beautiful block sold at Model Expo or the ones from Dry-Dock Models. This Victory kit should be upgraded to 3-D resin printed carvings instead of cast metal ones, which would sharpen the detail considerably. The rest of the kit is fantastic.
@g-kip5 ай бұрын
Hi, Been a while, I will be looking into the blocks, Ive already found some 3d printed upgrades, Im already thinking of ways to amend the kit, adding the lower gun deck removing the dummy guns and putting guns and carriages in and detailing each deck so when you look through the gun ports you see the interior.
@DARIVSARCHITECTVS5 ай бұрын
@@g-kip I added a lower deck for complete gun carriages on my last model, but not a complete deck, just horizontal boards between the frames. It was a half-upgrade.

Intimidating for sure. Stellar quality it seems. I imagine it will be seriously impressive when completed in a couple of years. I have a year and a half build in front of me now of a 1/12 scale McLaren MP4/4 and it is also pretty intimidating. I'll press on though. Hope to see some build footage in the future.

That looks like an amazing kit. While I would love to poke through that kit, I would never buy one because I know I haven't the patience to complete her. Heck, I have a Bluenose II model that I bought back in the late 80's and I've yet to start building it. I think it's because I'm too much of a perfectionist and am rarely satisfied with my work.

Hi Phil, yes the Occre kit was more expensive, ive just checked and it would seem the price has been dropped. so I guess this is the most expensive again.

@@g-kip I think the Occre kit is a bit of a gimmick like the wooden box it comes in. I’m part way through the San Felipe from Occre and I’ll probably build a victory next. Strange that Artesania don’t have a Victory. Maybe being a Spanish company they weren’t too happy what Nelson did to them during battle of Trafalgar is the reason 😃

Hi Mark, is it Artesania Latinas kit?, if your not in the mood / right frame of mind thats when mistakes happen, nothing wrong with taking time over the build, my first ever wooden kit took me ten years on and off.
@marklane585 ай бұрын
@@g-kip It's a Corel Kit. Not as elaborate as the Victory in your show so I've had to add and make some extra bits - cannon ball racks, rudder, grappling hook, and oars for the ships boat, etc. I also had to divert attention to making a rope server and testing sail making techniques. I might not use the sails even though they came out well. I'll be officially retired soon so I might schedule ship building into my weekly activities. Thanks for the encouragement.
@g-kip5 ай бұрын
Hi Mark, sounds like you've added a lot of extra details to your kit, did you design the rope server or buy it?, its something I would like to look into, as the cost of decent ropes is expensive. Lucky you, im still a few years of retiring still working full time, it would be nice to spend more time building.

I was a bit disappointed with your unboxing. Looked as if you did it more for yourself than your viewers. Some of the small bags you just tossed aside , and the ones you did try to show were too far away and had so much glare I couldn't see what they were. Same with all the brass. You said " look at the detail ' and put it away so fast I couldn't see anything. I know this sounds bitchy, but I really wanted a good look at what costs so much money.
@g-kip5 ай бұрын
Hi Gordon, thank you for your comments, by the way I don't think it sounded bitchy, some valid points made, I'm always open to constructive criticism, in my defence I wasn't sure I would be starting the build right away, so I didn't want to open every bag, in case I lost or damaged parts, as a fellow model ship builder I'm sure you will understand (some nice builds and videos by the way thanks to your comment I found your channel).
