I've read Arthashastra by Kautilya (Chanakya) during my childhood. It's more elaborate and better than Sun Tsu's Art of War & Machiavelli's The Prince (studied both as well later on). One of the most famous quote from it is very popular in India - 'Sam' (Diplomacy), 'Dam' (Finance), 'Danda' (use of force or Militarily), 'Bhed' (Deception and intelligence). These are 4 ways to achieve the interests of state. Relevant even today. Roughly translates into Machiavelli's "The ends justify the means".

Fact is in India there we don't have just a Book- We are followers of a library- We have ancient books ( written when aome religions were not even born) on Politics, medicine, astronomy, yoga, mathematics , architecture, and even sex. It is for this reason that Sanatanis even after centuries of rule( misrule) by British and Muslim rulers were able to stick to their thousands of years old religion. Only a handful converted but India is by and large follower of Sanatan Dharma. Dharma is righteousness and duty not religion and code on how to dress and what to eat.
