Art as Political and Social Commentary

Really interesting to see how social and political commentary in art have changed over the centuries! How do you think it might further evolve, in the next century say?

I suspect for a time Art will become more of a commentary, eventually there will be a war or tragedy and art will focus again on nostalgia. Same thing happens leading up to and following great conflicts such as the US Civil War, WWI and WWII.
