From afar, Phoebe looks so similar to me at that age (hair, clothes, face - I'm also half Asian with green eyes) and it's probably one of the first times I've seen someone who looks like me on screen. And to have it be a character who not only looks like me but is also a girl discovering her sexuality in a conservative context and looking for positive lesbian role models? Yeah, it brought the waterworks. Anyway, beautiful film, thank you to everyone involved, I so wish I had seen this when I was twelve.

So Blaise looks a lot like a girl I fell in love with.... So there was this girl at my Jewish camp who was three years younger than me and she was really cute and I hung with her and her friend and at one point she said her counselor was cute and I'm like oh, like center scoop of ice cream cute? And I explained what it meant and she's like no, like little kid. And a few days later I was talking to her and I walked her back to her activity and she said see you soon, my name. And I took a deep breath and said see you soon, center scoop of ice cream her name. She smiled and said see you, and walked inside. I turned and slowly walked away, then smiling, ran back to my bunkhouse. The last night of camp we hugged for 5 minutes straight. Her head was resting on my shoulder at one point and my head resting on hers. It was so sweet. I really wanted to kiss her but that's not allowed also there were other kids there. They yelled that we were hugging really long. I'm gonna see her next year though.

I am genuinely moved by this piece. The storyline was so down to Earth and commited to picture a real life issue and it was beautifully done. The combination of outstanding performance of all actors and actresses - shout-out to the young girls who managed to show a phenomenal, yet so natural and delicate acting - the soundtrack and also filmmaking made this an absolute masterpiece. I'm astonished at that conversation, more like a monologue, from Phoebe in the car, she sounded so confident and I'm sure it was her well-built, eloquent speech that made her parents rethink the whole situation, at last. I hope this piece reaches young girls who are struggling with similar situations and helps them go through it, understanding that they have to hold on and be true to themselves, no matter how many odds they have against them. And, more importantly, no one gets anywhere without someone you can trust or make the path a little more fun. A real friendship. However, scrolling down to some of the comments, I've come across a lot of people complaining about the fact that Phoebe and Blaze didn't share a kiss or were romantically engaged to each other. For those, I highly recommend you watch the whole thing again, simply because they weren't supposed to end up together, it was very clear from the beginning that Blaze identified herself as a straight girl, while Phoebe was more likely to feel attracted to girls - notice, nothing really settled as they were still very young and figuring things out. Their story was about their genuine friendship and its development in the adverse scenario of one's religious background. Not exactly two young girls falling for each other, on the contrary, they were fighting for the right just to be around each other just like any other kid at their age, you know? Although, I'd still like to see how they ended up and if they ever managed to meet 20 years later. That's it, took my time cause I think it was worth it.

WOW. WOW! Thanks so much for the awesome and very well considered comment and review. You reaction is the exact reason we love making films!! It is excellent how you saw that the girls didn’t need to have a romantic connection. I would have never thought that a (short) film about a pretty young girl discovering herself and accepting her sexuality would be so inspiring for me. Like, I'm the type of person who doesn't get inspired real quick and is rather emotionless towards these kind of thnigs, but the scene in the car and how easily her admitment roled over her lips - that was just freaking awesome. I, for once in my life, thought how it would be, if I suddently came out to my mom. Just out of the blue telling her 'you know why I've got no boyfriend yet? Because I'm into girls.' Easy as that. I am so impressed and motivated right know, I think the next time my mom asks me about my relationship status I'll just think of Phoebe and come out. Thank you.

I loved that blaze didn't have to be gay because her parents were gay. I loved the innocent friendship that phoebe and blaze had. every friendship should be like that. and as for blaze's moms, that is a love that I cannot wait to have for myself someday. I want to be old but still be flirty and in love and make my kid cringe and be cheesy and laugh and most of all, to love out loud. this film had such beautiful still shots and such beautiful cinematography. thank you for this :')

Thanks!!! We really wanted to show the parents as healthy and well-rounded, not just the typical asexual cardboard parents that are usually depicted.

Thank you for making such a fabulous meaningful short film, what an impact this could have on so many! All I kept thinking after Phoebe’s parents removed her from her school and prevented her from seeing Blaze was how detrimental this was to Blaze, she became depressed and shut down by not wanting to talk about the problem. Sometimes issues like this is just enough to push a young male or female over the edge into a spiral of depression and sometimes suicidal thoughts! I was thrilled how Phoebe told her parents exactly how she felt, but I was more thrilled that they realized the impact of what they had done and the importance of changing that decision! What a beautiful message. There are a large number of people who could benefit from this wonderful short film. Thanks again Arthouse films!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Ok is it just me or if blaise was like bi would they or would they not make a cute couple? 😅💕ok this is like my 5th time watching it and I just keep obsessing about how much blaise looks like my crush and just imagining us doing all this stuff but the upsetting part abt liking her is she is straight and I know she would never like me back in the way I like her she is just so kind and pretty and one of the most amazing people I have ever met and I don't know how I would live it I never met her also we don't get to see each other often bc we only get to see each other on Sundays and at skating and after next weekend I probably won't be able to see her till next year 😢😢

ok, let me guess, what I think is that they will wait 20 years, for girls to grow and come back and a possible "relationship between them ?, Is it a project or do not have anything planned yet? I know that KZbin it's here to stay, but it's a long time, honestly after such a long time the power of the plot is that decision and by then I would lose interest (for my part will continue), but for other people if it can be something that one day say "better I stop following this project" (and more for being a short film format), they invented a very good story, what if they made it film maybe by then wait so long would defend well (but if more projects are done LGBTI in cinema) if they decide to do it in film, a lot of success in new projects
