Thanks for all this information. It has been very informative. I was diagnosed with haemochromatosis 5 years ago. Just diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the spine and SI joints recently.

Tell it like it is. Too much iron wears down the joints. Hip replacement here. Thank you for this information. I'm going to send this to my GP and consultant here in the UK. Australia, you are always ahead of us in regards to health.

Deficiency of Boron is also a main cause of arthritic pain. Minimum of 3mg daily will address this issue. Been there. I can speak from experience.

Why is boron ignored? Read "the boron conspiracy" by Walter Last. Also, the role of copper is being ignored. No boron or copper in our food now, and doctors are ignorant about it. So much money made in sickness. Israel sits on mound of boron, and they have maybe 1 percent of arthritis. Question what is going on.

I recommend HH and OA sufferers investigate the Root Cause Protocol (RCP) - has made a huge impact on my pain and inflammatory levels. Increasing my Magnesium intake, and taking natural iron-chelators (black tea with food, Diatomaceous Earth, Rice bran, Turmeric) has had a very positive effect on lowering my Ferretin and Saturation levels.

I should add - I was diagnosed with HH at the age of 38 (22 years ago) and have been a regular blood donator throughout that time. I still developed Advanced OA (Stage 4) in my hips, lower spine and knees. It's interesting to note Dr Carroll's comments regarding Venesection as not providing much protection to the joints from the impacts of iron overload.

When I was 20 years old 45 years ago I had an hair sample scanned under a scanning electron microscope which showed a very high iron content. At 50 I found out I had the genes c282y/h63d but normal ferritin level but high MCV 96 . I started to donate has a precaution 4 times a year . I noticed that I went anaemic after donating for awhile. Also I noticed that I had unusual free iron in the blood. After a bit of research, I found a Norwegian study that pointed to my particular haemochromatosis type C28 2Y/H63d this occurred . I reduced donation down to 2 times a year and kept ferritin between 50 and 100. After catching Covid last Christmas 2022 I have had a lot pains in both toes and fingers and left hip. I reduced activity to try to counter inflammation this didn’t help so now I just use everything to a low level of pain every day. I don’t use painkillers I find they don’t help and just make me dopy. Aspirin helps a little 300mg /when I donate I fill a flush of blood in my fingers and toes. Also ice cold showers seem to help pain especially with sleep.
