Arthur Ashe interviewed on the BBC talk show "Fighting Back" by Lynn Redgrave, shortly after his AIDS diagnosis was made public. He died seven months after this was aired.

Yes he was. So very articulate, thoughtful. In other earlier interviews he shared how he tactically defeated Connors a SW 19 in '75. Yet it wasn't the end all for him in life when Wimbldon is the pinnacle of a great individual sport. For him to succumb to Aids via a terrible blood transfusion while having heart surgery...jeez, it's utterly ridiculous. A great great man.

I had the honour of meeting Arthur Ashe in 1975 at the Beckenham Grass Court Championships in Kent. I was 19 years old and he won beating Roscoe Tanner. God bless this kind, gentle and full of humility human being. Just amazing ❤🙏.
