HAWKWIND you mention that's funny I knew Lemmy and WenDY O Williams because I was a friend of Pete Steele when they were carnivore I'm from New York and I was roady and I talked with Lenny like half an hour at the Rock Hotel Ritz I'm older now and Wendy always there and that's funny yeah you bring up 😎 cool when Lenny's the most famous person I talk the most with in my whole life multitudes of times everyone used to say are you bothering him and he would tell them shut up leave the kid alone he's not bothering me I would talk about Concepts and my band ideas and he would listen... carnivore opened up as the first band for Motorhead for a while Venom I was on those tours... my friend was Lou Beto carnivores drummer that's how I got to know Type O Negative and Carnivore... I even knew Pete Steel when they were a band called Fallout before carnivore when I was like 11 in 1980 . Josh silver went to Life of Agony then they formed carnivore later.peace🌈💖🤛

it looks like Arthur is carrying the mantle handed to him by Dave Sutch who received it, originally from Screamin' Jay Hawkins
@jong0000
@jong0000 Жыл бұрын
comparing either one of them to Lord Sutch is hugely insulting to Jay and Arthur... Sutch had a decent stage act for awhile and he also had Carlo Little and Nicky Hopkins, but he was an awful singer...

If mr. Brown could only get clean, pure and prudent, his band actually should be Emerson Lake & Palmer...

Screamin Jay Hawkins? Who's that? Arthur Brown took a novelty song and turned it into something real. The studio version is still the best version. He packs a lot of emotion into the lyrics. Some of it is ugly and dark but it comes across as raw and real. A brilliant remaining. Hawkins version doesn't come close.

At least you awknowledge Hawkins did it first...I know this is awkward but the organ seems to be very distorted and should be played straight!
@Chapol99
@Chapol99 7 жыл бұрын
Agreed, the organ (?) seems to be into its own song, doesn't seem to be complimenting Brown.

Oh screw you. I've used to have a copy of the original. I threw it away because it was worthless. Hawkins never captured the emotional possibilities of the lyrics. He just screamed in that silly voodoo doctor persona of his. He never rose above being a novelty act and I'm surprised he is even remembered. His career is really sad because he was actually vocally talented. No, it was Arthur Brown and John Fogerty and others that brought this song to prominence. Most people have never heard the original version and for good reason. It's just too silly.

Steven Gabbard You seem to have trouble accepting an artist on the merit they have. The same lambasting could be said about AB, a man with one hit that he had to perform over... and over... and over... For some reason, John Fogerty makes me think of a musical cave man. He is pretty base. It is caveman music, caveman rock. Joe Walsh and Peter Frampton, now there are some guys with panache.

??????Whatever, man. It's unclear what point your trying to make. If you like Screamin, Hawkins, go for it, Hoss. Nobody said otherwise. I didn't appreciate being called an idiot. The only thing I was saying was Arthur Brown's version was a more mature piece of work (I refer to the studio work on The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown, not this video) and I stand by that.
