Arthur is one of those rare educational shows for kids that teaches lessons while not talking down to the kids. Treating the young audience as equals prevents shows like Arthur and Sesame Street from being unbearable to watch as an adult unlike say, Dora. You didn't have the Tibble Twins on here. They're closest to being in the gray tier. True they're four, but they literally exist to make D.W. look like an angel. 😇They live with their rich grandmother who spoils them rotten and rarely disciplines or sets boundaries for them. She basically believes that's boys will be boys and that they are too young to be held to "older" standards. She sees them as her little angels. They're parents are almost never around due to their careers and traveling, although I believe they're mother literally takes on more work just so she doesn't have to deal with them. With all that said, they aren't "bad" kids per say, and they don't like to hurt anybody or truly make anybody feel bad. They can be good friends at times.
@LavenderRare2 жыл бұрын

There were a lot of great characters, who were relatable, and they went through everyday situations. And the voice cast for each show was mostly kids! Arthur is a good kid, but he makes mistakes like other kids his age. I guess that's what makes him unique: a kid watching this show can put themselves in his head and relate to what he's going through. He has flaws, but who doesn't? If there's one lesson to learn from him, it's no-one's perfect, and he nails that to a tee.

@pbsfundingaddict790 Жыл бұрын
I think The Brain is the Most Good Arthur character given how tactical he is and his suggestions don’t harm his friends physically and he’s very social and open to anyone. As for Mr. Ratburn, he can’t exactly be considered good, but he’s more neutral. Sure, he’s doing his job as a teacher, but since the series was from the perspective of Arthur, the viewers were set not to really care for Mr. Ratburn. Although, there were some instances where Arthur viewed Mr. Ratburn as a friend rather than an overly strict and uptight teacher, which is relatable for students who have a hard time maintaining a healthy relationship with their teachers.

It's not really surprising that Arthur has some anger issues. His bratty sister, D.W., alone would make anyone angry more often than not. Next to George, Arthur is one of the more bullied kids at his school by his friends, especially by Francine and Muffy, and often treated like the low man on the totem pole at both school and home. I feel that anyone in his situation would have a little more anger buried inside than others, and when push comes to shove, can have a hard time keeping it bottled.

Im not saying David and Jane are not good parents, but Arthur needs a little more support to help with his anger issues and Arthur needs to find a way to tell people how he feels insted of bottleing up his feelings. Alan Powers was always my favorite. The character I hated was Dora Winifred Read. This show was part of my childhood. I'll miss it. One critic point I'd like to point out is that there are times in the series that don't emphasize wise parenting. This point is proven true when it comes to David and Jane Read not properly disciplining or advising D.W. for her mistakes or other actions. An example includes D.W. breaking Arthur's model jet plane, despite that he told her not to touch it, and the viewers not seeing D.W. getting the necessary discipline. Another example is D.W. consistently playing her "Crazy Bus" CD and annoying almost everyone in the house.

She broke it, proceeded to blame him, then after he punched her, all they did was blame him the rest of the episode. We don't see them talk to her or try to change her behavior. Arthur is punched by Binky later and David says: "Well maybe you now understand how you made DW feel." instead of actually trying to cheer him up. And the latter, she was whining over a birthday party she wasn't invited to and they ignored her tantrums, including her slamming the door to her bedroom repeatedly and keeping Arthur awake most of the night. No discipline to her this episode and Arthur is one of a few people, as well as Francine who treated DW far too good to be the ones who absorbed the consequences. If Arthur is still below them, it's because they're biased towards DW even when she's objectively in the wrong.

I think The Tibbles and D.W. should be in 1st place for least good. These three kids have some good moments like caring about their family and friends but they had a lot of bad ones. D.W.'s good moments Demonstrates bravery by crawling inside an organ to retrieve a wedding ring that had been lost during a ceremony, showcasing her willingness to assist even when it involves personal risk When she learns that Arthur is lost, she becomes very worried and crawls into his bed at night to ensure he is safe. This moment illustrates her protective nature and love for her brother, despite their frequent squabbles D.W.’s friendship with Bud Compson showcases her ability to form meaningful relationships and support friends through challenges. For instance, when Bud moves away in “When Duty Calls,” D.W. expresses sadness over his departure and values their friendship deeply. D.W's bad moments Manipulative Behavior: D.W. often manipulates situations to get what she wants, such as in “The Pageant Pickle,” where she uses emotional tactics to force Arthur into participating in her pageant. Annoying Sibling Rivalry: Throughout the series, D.W.’s constant teasing and annoying behavior towards Arthur can be seen as detrimental to their sibling relationship, particularly evident in episodes like “For Whom the Bell Tolls.” Selfishness: In episodes like “The Last of Mary Moo Cow,” D.W.’s selfishness is highlighted when she prevents Arthur from enjoying his show simply because hers was canceled. Disrespectful Attitude: At times, D.W.’s attitude can come off as disrespectful or rude, especially towards adults or authority figures, which is showcased in various interactions throughout the series. Overreacting to Situations: D.W.’s tendency to overreact can lead to unnecessary drama; for example, in “He Said, He Said,” her reactions escalate conflicts between characters rather than resolving them. Good Moments of the Tibbles Friendship and Support: In various episodes, Timmy and Tommy show moments of genuine friendship and support for each other. For instance, when one twin is sick, the other expresses concern and tries to cheer him up, demonstrating their bond as brothers. Learning Manners: In “Mind Your Manners,” the Tibbles attempt to learn proper etiquette in order to take their grandmother out for dinner. This shows a willingness to improve themselves and consider the feelings of others. Apologizing for Misbehavior: In “To Tibble the Truth,” after realizing that their honesty has hurt others’ feelings, they reflect on their actions and express remorse. This moment indicates growth and an understanding of social dynamics. Excitement for Friends: When James MacDonald is invited over for a sleepover in “Night of the Tibble,” they display genuine excitement and enthusiasm about having a friend over, showcasing their ability to enjoy positive social interactions. Bad Moments of the Tibbles Bullying Behavior: The Tibbles often engage in bullying behavior towards D.W., such as tricking her into thinking they care about her only to destroy her toys in “Never, Never, Never.” This highlights their manipulative tendencies. Dishonesty: Throughout various episodes, Timmy and Tommy are shown lying to get what they want or to avoid consequences, such as deceiving Buster about imaginary friends or making false promises to Vicita regarding toys. Recklessness: Their energetic nature often leads them into reckless situations where they end up hurting others or causing chaos, as seen in episodes like “Attack of the Turbo Tibbles,” where they play rough without considering safety. Alienating Others: In “To Tibble the Truth,” their commitment to being overly honest alienates them from friends because they inadvertently insult everyone around them, demonstrating a lack of social awareness.

I know Francine has a bad rap, but at least she grew a bit kinder and more thoughtful over the years; Muffy, on the other hand, just became more and more shallow.

Eventhough Muffy can be bossy at times. I always know deep down she is a good person. I think she looks good in that garden outfit in the episode The Cherry Tree. My favorite episode as a whole is season 11's Dancing Fools. I prefer Muffy than Francine as a child.

With the next Good to Most Good, maybe have medals for the opposites of the sins. Like charity, humility, chastity, diligence, etc.

Ms. McGrady has 1 really big flaw. She nearly killed all the kids at school when she dumped a bag of quarters into her brownie mix. Thanks to Buster, that didn't happen.
