Medjedovic is brutal on serve and attack. But it will be interesting to see him against a player who can move him around the court a bit more. Or against Medvedev who can put so many balls back. Hamad can get frustrated quite easily, he needs to work on it. Can’t get a toilet break everytime he loses his head. But we can’t and shouldn’t take anything from him, he deserves this title. Looking forward to seeing him in action in 2024.

@@pureffm True. Djokovic became the master of channeling negative energy into raising his performance level. Medjedovic is not there yet, at least not without the toilet breaks :) But if he can work it out, he will be one of the top players for the upcoming years. I wonder if we will see him beat his childhood hero like Alcaraz beat Nadal.

Guys, please remember this: this title was NOT a fluke by any means, nor a flash of brilliant performance. Since the beginning of this season I've been following Hamad, knowing he's the next big thing in the pro scene from our country and with a challenger title under his belt at age 19. Most of his losses in the main draws came from seasoned players and in those matches Hamad showcased some truly brilliant tennis. In the end it was always the case of mental insecurity and inexperience. But nevertheless, from the first match I watched (WC in Banja Luka), I immediatelly loved his tennis. Semifinals in Gstaad and Astana, where he beat the likes of Thiem, Hanfmann and Đere, all much more experienced players than him, and Lehečka, proving he can very well compete with his peers as well, proved that my faith is grounded. He just needed time to mentally clock in. This tournament, where he defeated 5 of his peers, a few of whom are lauded as guaranteed future top 10 players, surely did wonders for his mental game. Not to mention giving away two tiebreaks in the final and coming right back like nothing happened. He is absolutely sure that he can now. Can't wait for the next season

I saw him live at Wimbledon Qualifiers and was very impressed with his tennis and his fighting spirit. I was delighted to see him playing the Next Gen and knew from his first match here that he had a great chance of winning. But I did wonder whether he had the fitness as I had only seen him play the once. He sure had!!
@DruggedChicken
@DruggedChicken 6 ай бұрын
@@marykistnen6837 Honestly, it's really weird for me to see pundits and tennis journos always mention his lack of fitness as his major downside. From what i gathered by watching him this season, he wasn't losing because his body gave up, rather it was his head. Sure, he had a few minor absences due to some injuries this season, but i think those kinds of things are manageable. Surely the off season will be used to amend them. Although he did end up cramping in his first match this week, but he obviously managed to push through.

Fils seems to have those mental blocks, even though he's had an amazing year. I'm not sure but I think it was against Bublik in a final recently he did the same, started doubting and planting many backhands in the net. It reminds me of Zverev with the second serve, he used to randomly start doubting and slow down the movement and the ball would land at the bottom of the net. The good thing is, I think that's the type of mental block that will go away as with matches and confidence. From my experience, what helps is finding something to focus on during those moments, that helps letting go of the frustration or fear to miss.

Good. The better player and more deserved one won here. Hamad is in the similar vein of Sinner, a pure ball striker that hits the ball hard and deep. I see Fils a bit like Rune and Alcaraz, more based on defense and athleticism which I don't rate at all. Sure they can hit screaming winners but when trying to create their own pace, they can hit some deplorable winners. They pretty much wait for the errors of their opponents. I'm gonna root for the ball striker every single time. Tennis is more than just running and chasing the ball

@@zvezdasrbija7207 reaching top10 is never easy lol, why should he reach top10 easily when there are plenty of players better than him? More consistent and more skilled? Maybe he’ll reach it someday, but it won’t be easy. He just won a dumb tournament with a fodder format, and didn’t beat any top player on his way to the championship, keep calm and let’s see how he does next year. It will be a success if he even reaches the top30 or top20 tbh

@@johncarywhistle2052 let me repeat what i said : there is around 20 players in his generation that are better than him. Saying that he will be on top of next gen is absurd since he isnt even in top 10 currently. His generation are all players that can still play next gen,and those are players like : Alcaraz,Rune,Musetti,Draper,Fils,Shelton,Van Assche,Stricker,Medjedovic. Half of these would destroy him in an atp match. They are already winning masters grand slams and u compare shelbayh to them,insane
