@@listrahtes 🙂oh thats news to me as I am not a follower of tennis but believe that umpire needs to set equilibrium to the game giving confidence to players and viewers that the outcome was fair and not due to favourtism or undue imfluence🙂f the players

02:10 - 'TOWEL !!' - why wasn't the wannabe reprimanded by the umpire for the appalling treatment of the towel boy/girl - but then the umpire barks orders at the SMALL BOY to get water for the wannabe !!

This man is an amazing umpire and judge. Puts the match above himself and does his damndest to make sure both competitors are playing fairly but not ruling with an iron fist. Has a dialogue which is respectful and in the best interests of the sport.

In hockey if you start mouthing off to the ref you'll get a unsportsmanlike penalty. In tennis it seems like the umpire is a meek parent too afraid to discipline his spoiled child.

Umpire is fantastic. William to show a little grace and humor and explain his reasoning. It’s a tough job because these calls can affect matches but he seems to do well and isn’t the slightest bit arrogant about his calls.

Now you are left with all the nice college educated boys who hit a ball over the net and back. Not a passion or a flair to be seen. Someone did an underarm the other day and the crowd booed. Someone did a tweener and the crowd looked confused. Back to the dark ages.

I truly want like a deep dive into his mental because at first glance he's incredibly insufferable and childlike but there's also another part in me that just wonders what made him the way he is. I've heard that he had a lot of media pressure but from what I've seen he's also like this in general

Fun fact: Did you know The Game Tennis was invented by Major Walter Clopton Wingfield. He had a son named Dennis, who was ten years old at the time. When asked what the sport would be called, he thought of his ten year old son Dennis And decided to splice "ten" and "Dennis" into one word "Tennis," and that's why it's called Tennis.
