Okay. I was 15 years of age going on 16 years of age in 1996; I am currently 40 years of age going on 41 years of age later on this year. While I was already in High School in 1996, I did love Arthur. A teenager as we know is not a little kid anymore, but not an adult yet. I still love Arthur to this very day. You can tell me I'm too old for Arthur, but I love Arthur.

One thing I noticed is that most of those sponsored ads don’t even show the product they are advertising
@durandlewis13822 жыл бұрын
Well, that's because the PBS Kids sponsors are supposed to promote why they sponsor their shows instead of their own products. If it was the other way around, then it'd just be another glorified ad.
@farmerjack59625 жыл бұрын
The main thing I noticed is how the sponsorships, grants and endowments dropped off notably when the Great Recession hit. It sort of symbolizes the sad state Public Broadcasting is in today.

To be fair, I really miss how in the 90s and early to mid 2000s, it felt special watching these. Sure they reaired on PBS Kids Sprout, but it was a bummer once they stopped airing them on local PBS affiliations. I mainly stopped watching PBS Kids by 2007, but that's because shows like Super Why rarely kept my interest.

Differences Season 2 - The announcer is different, and Juicy Juice, Polaroid, and Baby Gap are added. Season 3 - The NECET, Arthur Vining Davis Foundations, and Polaroid are gone. An online and library promo is added to the end. Season 4 - The U.S. Department of Education and Post Alpha-Bits are added, and the CPB is gone. X-mas special episode - The background and music is different, the CPB is back, the USDE and Baby Gap are gone, the "Viewers Like You" text, which is now shown at the end rather than near the beginning, and the beginning announcement for the Juicy Juice ad are different, and Lego is added. Season 5 - The music, background, and text is reverted back to normal, the online/library promo, the Juicy Juice ad, and the Post Alpha-Bits ad are different, there is now a bumper at the beginning saying "Funding for Arthur is provided by...", the "Happy Holidays" text is omitted from the Lego ad, the USDE is back, and that and the CPB are shown at the end. Season 6 - The beginning slide is now a video of Arthur running around the world, Lego, the online/library promo, and Juicy Juice are different, Post Alpha-Bits is reverted to the original version, Ready to Learn is added, and the CPB is gone. Season 6 #2 - Post Alpha-Bits is slightly different. Season 6 #3 - Post Alpha-Bits is different again, and some of the logos at the end have some ugly glow around them for some reason. Season 7 - Post Alpha-Bits is different yet again, Chuck-E-Cheese's appears, Lego and the "Viewers Like You" text are gone, and the CPB is back again. Season 7 #2 - Post Alpha-Bits changes for the umpteenth time. You know what, since that's probably gonna just keep on happening, I'll just stop keeping track of that. I'm also not gonna keep track of Chuck-E-Cheese's changing either because they change their ads a lot too. Season 8 - The "Viewers Like You" text is back, and the USDE and Ready to Learn grants are gone. Season 8 #2 - Teddy Grahams is introduced, and the USDE is back. Season 9 - The online/library promo url is changed to reflect PBS Kids Go, as is the PBS logo at the end. Post Alpha-Bits, Teddy Grahams, the "Viewers Like You" text, the CPB (the final remaining original sponsor), and Juicy Juice are gone, and Ready to Learn reappears with a logo that's so freakin' big it might blow up your television set. Season 9 #2 - Rhodes is added in the form of 60-Second Cinnamon Rolls. Season 10 - Danimals appears, and the USDE and Ready to Learn grants are gone. Season 11 - Chuck-E-Cheese's introduces what is probably their shortest promo ever, and Danimals is gone. Season 12 - Hefty Zoo Pals and CVS Caremark appear, and Chuck-E-Cheese's is back to being a normal length advert. Season 13 - The online/library promo is now moved to the credits, the beginning video is now a different part of the theme intro, ABCMouse is introduced, and Chuck-E-Cheese's is gone. Season 16 - Chuck-E-Cheese's reappears, and ABCMouse is gone. Season 21 - ABCMouse reappears, and Chuck-E-Cheese's is gone again.

I'm watching Arthur on channel 13 as I type this. I couldn't help but mention about today's commercials being kinda lame compared to the earlier times, not to say these these mini commercials on this video are amazing. I know nostalgia definitely does play a part in it, I just cant help that there was distinct charm and personality to older commercials that make them so memorable. I've been mostly seeing ones that are either overly ridiculous and annoying that begs for your attention or it's either bland, sterile, and uninspiring except for a very few exceptions. I just miss the storytelling, unique characters, and strong sense of visual atmosphere that encompassed those commercials.

Arthur has been running for over twenty years, and the only sponsor that stuck around for more than five was that freaking mouse. Ironically, it would be sponsored by ABC Mouse after CEC ended their 20-year PBS contract.

Rachel Silverstein what’s next? When PBS ends their probably existing 20 year contract with ABC mouse they’ll sign a 20 year contract with Disney then they’ll say “this program is funded by Mickey and the roadster racers!”(if PBS still exists in like 20 years)
