The one and only arthur lee...does his time in prison like a man and gets out and sings flawlessly without a hint of age n bitterness! He doesnt even lower the key of his songs to make easier to sing like everyone of his so calld rock star peers do. Not arthur he belts em like it is 1967 and these songs are fuking hard to sing he's not human in a treasure to behold

Arthur Lee is the real father of Punk before Punk even knew it wanted to be Punk. He was singing like this in 1966 or earlier. You cant steal from him or the band Love- you can only follow and learn.
@thomasromano93212 жыл бұрын
True enough. The song "Seven plus Seven" has been acclaimed as the first real punk song. But Love combined so many different musical styles. When Neal Young was commented on Buffalo Springfield's musical diversity he said to listen to Love.

Arthur Lee's backup band consisted of members of the LA based band Baby Lemonade. So that edition of Love would be: guitarist Rusty Squeezebox, guitarist Mike Randle, bassist Dave Chapple and drummer David "Daddy-O" Green.

So glad that finally Arthur Lee AND the band, "Love," (How simple yet appropriate) is getting their due. However, someone please inform the drummer there's a difference between a "musical drummer" and "a basher," which he is here. Good musicians can keep time, and don't need to be reminded the drums are all over on every single song. Only gripe, that is all too common-DYNAMICS MAKE THE SONGS!

House Band at The Whiskey A - Go - Go, on Sunset - Reportedly, Jac Holzman (Elektra Records) was taken to see them playing, by Ray Manzarek & other Members of the Doors who made the suggestion to him - They were quickly signed - They didn’t tour much, behind the release of the Records.. Otherwise, they would’ve been much more widely - acclaimed, beyond the Southland

Figures. None of the original lineup here. Too bad. Arthur Lee might have been brilliant, but he shouldn't get all the credit for the band Love. There was also a lot of talent in the other band members, particularly Bryan MacLean. Arthur Lee and Bryan MacLean did not get along in the band, with Lee sometimes deliberately trying to stifle MacLean's creativity and songs. Ego played a big part in that. Unfortunately Lee also refused to tour, which did not give the band nearly the public acclaim they could have had. One of the songs Lee performs here "Live and Let Live" should have been a lesson to be learned in what happened in the original band. Later Lee tried to reform the original lineup of Love, but MacLean, for understandable reasons refused to work any more with him. In so many of the great rock bands, there was often more than one songwriter. I think it's particularly ironic and galling that they're performing some of Bryan's songs here like "Orange Skies" and "Alone again or..." without him? That's like a slap in the face. But at least Lee recognizes the greatness of MacLean's songs, even though it's too late to have MacLean back.

imho, Arthur Lee was disparately “treated”, on the gun charge, that sent him to prison; Had a few minor priors, beforehand - Might’ve been pursuant to mandatory minimums/. 3 Strikes legislation.. Racist component to the sentencing guidelines
@BonnieRawson Жыл бұрын
Additionally, another individual actually was the one who discharged the firearm, yet he denied it ! The gun residue test ( either, went un administered, that would’ve inculpated the guilty party) and the culmination of other charges were used to assess Arthur Lee w/ the 12 - Yr prison sentence - This was post the 3 Strikes legislation & mandatory minimums, (here in CA) & they used his past offenses, assault, dui, & he was sent to Prison - Tragic
