There is no place quite like Duluth harbor...I love these boats. The Anderson was on the lake the night the Fitz went down...helped with the search. What a majestic lady. My dad used to sail these boats years ago when I was a kid. Time goes by, but the memories remain.

From what I understand, she always gets them when she enters Duluth due to her crew's heroine attempt all those years ago "when the Witch of November came early"! (Including going back out after she reach a safe harbor!!)

Watched her pass through the Sault Ste. Marie locks yesterday with my little guy. I remember when my father used to sit with me to watch the lake boats. A nice distraction from crazy times.

I grew up in Duluth and spent a lot of time at Canal Park. Lots of fond memories watching those ships come through and under the Ariel Lift Bridge.

Aerial Bridge for cars to cross over in the Canal Park area. It raises up for the ships to pass through.

By the way these are not ships , on the Great Lakes they are called boats or freighters. Ships are used on the ocean.

My mother had a close friend who sailed the Great Lakes, and I'm told he hated to hear those ships referred to as "boats." 🤷♀️
