On November 20th, 2021, the Arthur M. Anderson was preparing to depart Chicago's Calumet Harbor after unloading coal. Around 1PM, the vessel had departed north towards Lake Michigan and got permission to pass under the Norfolk Southern liftbridge at CP 509. There were once four liftbridges at this location, all built in 1912. One was removed in the 1960s and the other two were abandoned. I was shooting off of the two abandoned New York Central bridges, which have been left unused since the Conrail merger in 1976. Once the Arthur M. Anderson had passed through, the bridge was lowered to allow for an eastbound freight to cross the river. The train, which had just came off of the BRC, was powered by a pair of CSX AC44CWs. Pretty cool!
