@@leobowman8149 Probably because it's a smaller airport, they thought they could get away with it. I get it. If you fly a lot, it gets to be a hassle waiting around for boarding. Most of the time, we're just standing around. But, I'm always too fearful of missing my flight to do otherwise. It can seem like you have lots of time but that last 15 minutes of boarding goes faster than people realize. I'm not sure why it's so wrong for her to have a beer before she catches a flight to see her kid. I have kids and I drink beer too. I don't believe her that her child is *that* desperate to see her. I had a 6 week business trip overseas and then a relative died in London during the trip, so I added a few days at the end of the trip before I finally got home to my family. I wasn't so worried about the kids by the end of it, but my poor husband stuck alone with them for almost seven weeks. Poor man needed a break and I needed to find better negotiation skills to get out of long, boring business trips. I have another one August and I'm dragging my family with me this time. It's too boring by myself.

The last airline gentleman (Matt, I think?) handled it beautifully. He listened to their complaint. He checked the bar screens to find out if they were, indeed, messing up then tactfully told the the customers his findings and booked them on a later flight, all without raising his voice or arguing. I worked in retail jewellery for years, and when you had these disputes with people about the wrecked jewellery they bought back, if they phoned head office and complained, they'd usually reverse it, discard the rules, and let the customer get away with it. It's very satisfying (and makes travel far safer), to see airline companies, stick with their staff and the safety of the flight, and the passengers that could be bothered to turn up on time.

@@SierraNevaduh And yes it’s absolutely true that it’s not fair to make a whole plane of people who managed to get there on time wait, there are a few other reasons that a commercial plane can’t wait for late passengers. The weight and fuel calculations and if the late passenger’s seat has gone to someone on standby then the plane is full and can’t take on someone else due to the likelihood of turbulence and lack of extra oxygen masks and life vests. But perhaps the most important factor is that flight attendants and particularly pilots have legal restrictions on how long they can be on duty for. Quite often if the flight has been delayed already or something like that then being any later could push the pilots beyond those limits in which case everyone would have to wait longer for a new crew or risk their lives being flown by exhausted pilots.

Robert Petersson , mistakes can and does happen from both sides. Unfortunately from a corporations perspective if they admit it costs. What is your definition of early. I only ask because I once left early for an interview from Norwich to Rochester. I left at 07:00 for an interview at 14:30. During the journey an accident happened on a major motorway stopping my journey dead then as we moved forward inch by inch my fuel line snapped. I then waited 2 hrs for breakdown recovery. Fortunately I was able to make a call to explain the situation. I arrived at my interview at 14:40 hrs how I don’t know. All I’m saying is you can be prepared for shit but not how much. Ps was offered but didn’t take offer. What a day it was. 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🤪🔰🔰🔰🔰🔰
