Yeah I'd say you're not gonna be wanting for performance out of either of these lenses. The Sony is a bit more expensive but it's native glass on a Sony body, so the AF will likely perform slightly better. But I have the Sony 20mm and several Sigma DG DN lenses for my a7iii and they're all amazing.

Sony is around 180 US dollar more and is 1/3 stop faster. It also has slightly better centre sharpness, less vignette, to me significant less barrel distortion, contradicting reports says it may or may not lose a slither in corner sharpness. It also have higher AF tracking speed, and is compatible with Sony's new Lens breathing compensation. Also, First party lens tend to retain resale value better than third party.

I'm just curious Arthur, if you use crop mode with the 7c, does it feel like you have effectively two different focal lengths available when using this lens, or is it best suited to staying in FF? I'm only asking as I'm trying to decide between upgrading to either the 7c or the A6600 (I've all but ruled out getting an FX3 now, due to no crop mode in 4k, and I'm tired of waiting for Sony to reveal a new flagship apsc camera) So now the A7c has come onto my radar, due to it's compact design, and helped no doubt, because of your excellent reviews too :)

I do like your style of reviews, but... Showing the real -optical- performance of a lens like this needs a camera with more resolution. This lens will perform great on your 24mpix A7c but on the A7RIV the edges and corners appear to be noticeably softer wide open. At least according to other reviews, no personal experience. So it is worth mentioning that your review might not necessarily translate to performance on higher-res bodies. Actually looking forward to you buying an A7RIV and doing al your lens reviews on that 😀
