I am only asking that you do not stretch yourself too thin. some topics such as islam and the muslim world which I have experienced personally (I grew up in a muslim country as a christian) are simply too complex. please tread carefully. Hi Jordan! I am from Baghdad/Iraq and I would like to tell you that Sunni and Shiites live together in Iraq peacefully, some of our families contain a Sunni mother and a Shiite father or vice versa. Some of my best, lifelong friends are Christians and I walked by a church the last month and saw a priest saying goodbye to a smiling family leaving the church. Rest assured that the majority of Muslim people are peaceful and loving, but the actions of some bigoted minority sometimes, unfortunately, leave a stronger impression.

As a Muslim who respects Dr.Peterson and has followed him for quite some time, My 3 issues with this video: 1-This message could easily apply to Jews and Christians aswell,did Jordan ever make a message directed to Jews or Christians telling them to stop seeing Muslims as enemies?I don't think so. 2-There is anti-Jewish sentiment in the Muslim community,but the majority of Muslims don't even see Christians as their enemies,so I don't see why Jordan was speaking as if there was a significant anti-Christian sentiment in the Muslim community. 3-As for the Jewish point:imagine if a man made a KZbin video in 2022 encouraging Ukrainians to seek peace with Russians as if it's a simple task,the response to said video would be outrageous since it would be ignoring the complexity of the situation between Russians and Ukrainians and ignoring that there's a war between them. The same could be said to Jordan encouraging Muslims to stop vilifying Jews. Firstly,Muslims have trouble with Israel and Zionism more than they do have trouble with Jews and Judaism as a religion. The Russian speaking Ukrainians have been slaughtered since 2014, under the orders of interim president Oleksandr Turnochyv. They’re infested with an ideology older and more odious than Nazism, and their actions could hardly be seen as forgivable by the Russian speaking Ukrainians who’ve suffered untold torture, kidnap, and extrajudicial ethnic cleansing at the hands of Ukrainian officials. This is in fact a message applicable to almost every other major religion as you said and should be said to them too, although there exist no such divide today between Jews nor between Christians. And I recognize that the vast majority of this is actually nationalism rather than theological conflict. Alowites are seen as heretics for example by a great deal Muslims though as are Sufis by fewer. Salam brother.

As for why are such messages meant for muslims: it's because islam is the only religion in the 21st century that has a widespread track record of modern religion-endorsed violence, sometthing that the Christians and Jews phased out in the middle ages and Roman times, respectively. Islam is violent by nature, and muslims seem to have little problem with it. I just wanted to say, as a Lebanese muslim, that despite all the differences between Sunni and Shia ideologies, we live with each others in peace. As muslims we can agree with Dr Jordan Peterson that the Quran it is mentioned that we muslims should respect the people of the book ( jews and Christians ) but it's mentioned in the Quran chapter 60 : verse 8 " God does not deprive you of those who did not fight you in religion and did not deprive you from your home " and what did the jewish settlers do to the Palestinians ? Between 1920 and 1939 the Balfour declaration promised to facilitate Jewish immigration under suitable conditions and the jewish population focused on purchasing lands from the arab owners so by controlling both the land and the labor that gave them the opportunity to occupy Palestine and over 700000 Palestinians fled from their homes and became refugees in neighbouring arab countries and they became stateless . Now here's an honest question. How do you want us to make peace with those who fought us , kicked us out from our homeland , and declared war on us ? Palestinians are living under isreali military occupation and the Israelis treat the Palestinians as they are sub humans in their own land . Just last year ago when the battle started between the Palestinians and the Isreali government , there were Zionist mobs marching through the streets of Jerusalem chanting " Death to Arabs " and smashing in Palestinians own stores with protection of Isreali police . And they were kicking Palestinians out from their homes in sheikh Jarrah east Jerusalem to make way for Jewish settlers . And yet people say that God promised them this land and the they have the right to live there . How do you think Isreal was built ? Do you think that millions of Palestinians decided to leave their homes behind burn down their own villages for no reason ? Isreali forces are bombing and shooting people praying inside Al Aqsa mosque and airstrikes are hitting the Gaza strip and what are the Palestinians supposed to do ? Their homes are being destroyed, their places of worship are being bombed and their families are being killed . Are you expecting from them to remain quiet and to sit back and accept it ? Some jews claim that it was their land so if history is to be taken to throw people out from their homes then why doesn't the US give back the land to the native Americans ( the red Indians ) . Don't you feel like as if Palestinians are still living under colonialism ? As muslims we have no problem with the jews at all . The Quran doesn't say that the Jews and the muslims should fight , it says that the strongest enemies to the muslims are the jews and this is actually a fact and it proves the Quran is right and the proof for that is easy . I'm one of the Muslim fans of Dr Peterson who's been following him for several yrs now. I usually find his opinions and views brilliant because of all the research and wisdom that goes into every sentence he speaks. This time, however, I do believe Dr Peterson's views lack research and some are downright baseless ideas that it seems he's observed superficially. These are issues that have deep, deep roots and are extremely complex. Like another viewer pointed out, you cannot ask Ukrainians to seek harmony with Russians just because that's a nice thing to do. The matter is much worse than an ego battle of two tribes. And like another viewer pointed out, sunni and shias live in harmony. I have many shia friends and know of many other sunnis who have close friendships with shias. We look at each other as brethren, not outsiders or disbelievers. It's only when there are actual miscreants seeking to create political disruption that trouble arises. With all due respect, I suggest you read more about the history of Palestine and the birth of Zionism in the 1940s. That explains our hurt and pain more than anything anyone says.

Hmmm. I really like Jordan Peterson. He is a genuine, logical, thoughtful speaker who truly wishes the best for people. However, as well as his intentions may have been, I found this video to be a bit condescending towards Muslims. It represents a very shallow understanding of the world, Islam, and the situation of Muslims in general. I find it slightly hypocritical that he is only addressing this message to the Muslims and fails to implement his own advice to other divides such as those between the left and the right. I really appreciate your intentions, Dr Peterson. However, I don't think that this message is thought through enough as it is predicated on a few presumptions that are not accurate. First: Muslims and Christians have been living together in relative peace in the Muslim world for decades although one might argue the opposite but I'm telling you this from my experience as an Egyptian Muslim who's got Christian friends and I'm sure I'm not the only one and that it's not a narrow perspective I'm looking from but that's what we grew up on. Second: The differences between Sunnis and Shiites although they're theological in their essence but we reached a phase in Iraq for example before the American invasion where both Sunnis and Shiites actually married from each other and the same applies to Lebanon and Syria. Until the geopolitical game that's started between Iran and Saudi Arabia under the supervision of the west definitely. Third and the most important: your emphasis on the tolerance with the jews implies that you assume that we as Muslims are against the Jewish people themselves, but that's not the case at all. We're against Zionism which happens to be dominantly jews, but again as an Egyptian who's slightly aware of how my grandparents lived, jews used to coexist peacefully in my home city, Alexandria and other cities in Egypt pre -immigration to the Zionist so called country. There are three things going on here, a sort of God complex on Peterson's part of the type that assumes that he can unite the religious under one umbrella. Second is the degeneration of his intellect since his illness caused by his addiction to and use of benzodiazepines - there is a distinct difference in his persona before and after. Lastly, Peterson is in the process of finding a new audience or 'calling' as he sees it in his deluded mind, an audience that will financially support him, since his days in academia and as a public intellectual are well behind him. I like and respect Dr. Peterson. A lot. He is one of the greatest intellectuals alive today, and his talks have helped me immensely. However, I agree with the majority of the comments on this video. I will tell you that I am an Orthodox Christian, so you will understand my perspective as a non-Muslim. Dr. Peterson fails to account for the role of Zionists in the modern-day animosity between Jews and Muslims. It is true that Jews were persecuted horribly during World War II, but I do not see how this entitles them to their own ethnostate formed by forcibly ejecting other people from their lands. There were many millions of people persecuted horribly during the 20th century, and one could argue that Jews represent a minority of that number. Do all the other victims deserve their own ethnostate, too? Dr. Peterson recently released a video, Butchers and Liars Reprise, where he gives examples of the Left and Right taking their ideologies too far. In the case of the Right, he says trying to form your own ethnostate would be an example of going too far. Why are the actions of the Zionists not going too far? I am careful to call out Zionists specifically and not Jews in general as we know that there are places around the world where Muslims, Christians and Jews are able to peacefully and respectfully coexist. I feel that Dr. Peterson’s recent affiliation with Daily Wire prevents him from properly addressing this topic. I am not egotistical in my opinions, so I invite any and all criticism of what I just wrote.

I actually agree with you on most of your points. For context, I am a middle-eastern muslim and I never had any problem with jews. We have never been taught to hate jews. Our only issue is with zionists who wrongfully invaded a country of ours and dragged our brothers out of it. Not only, muslims, there are even jews who stand against zionism. I've been following Dr Peterson for quite a while now and I agree with much of what he says and the reason for that is the fact that he is a man of science who says nothing without a scientific proof. I really appreciate this heartfelt message from Dr. Peterson. I disagree with the notion that Muslims inherently have issue with Christians and Jews based solely on the fact that they are of a different religion. While there are some Muslims out there that are like this I don’t think it’s reflective of how the majority of Muslims think about Jews and Christians. I think it’s more of an issue of politics rather than religion. For example Muslims are upset with Israel not because the population of Israel are Jews but because of policies the Israeli government are implementing in Palestine, it’s politics not religion. Either way I think we can all agree with Peterson’s theme that betterment starts within and on an individual level. May we all have a hand in changing the world into a better place no matter how small it might be.

I grew up Baptist Christian, and there was something off about worshipping a man, a prophet of Allah. But since I've put my faith in God alone. After watching this video and reading the comments I can’t help but feel a little patronised if I’m honest. While the intention of this message may have been innocent and in good faith, It plays into this false narrative that all Muslims have a percentage of hate towards Christian’s and Jews. There is no hate amongst the majority of Muslims and other faiths. Our hate internally is towards the sin and not the sinner with our common enemy being Satan/Shaitaan. Our differences are very few but what Muslims feel is sinful, they will try their best to avoid and to partake in. I live in the UAE a country which follows Sharia law, it has one of the lowest crime rates in the world and there is peaceful coexistence between many faiths. This message of tolerance and peaceful coexistence is in the teachings of this beautiful religion for 1400+ years but what Islam also teaches us is to have a little backbone and stick to our values and beliefs. Tolerance doesn’t mean you give up your values and traditions to take part in what others do. Tolerance is to accept that others are different and the whole world can take something from this message. As for the Sunni/Shia comments this is down to political/regional understandings of the religion the same way there are many branches of Christianity who don’t agree with one another’s interpretations. The message is one amongst all Muslims and Allah will judge us on how we have understood and followed that message. Also baffled by the number of Muslims in the comments section who seem to crave validation from a prominent speaker and say they agree with “everything” but then disagree with certain points. Before Muslims can attain unity with non muslims, they must first request it from other Muslims but at the same time leaving the door open to other faiths. If you are truly Muslim, you should be reaching across the aisle to Sunni or Shiite whichever applies. Come to an agreement within, as Jordan says, and be the light your book demands.

What actually troubles me is the fact that Mr.Peterson you just said that, and I quote, “I have developed an audience in the muslim world” and “the comments from the muslim watchers and listeners to my KZbin channel and podcast have been extraordinarily positive” then you go on to say we refuse to affiliate ourselves with anything or anyone who isn’t adherent to the religion of Islam or even go as far to say that we consider them our enemies. And that is just a tad bit contradicting don’t you think.

It doesn't necessarily contradict, he states that there was a positive response from people from the Muslim community *that watched the video* , he did not refer to the whole community. This is about different people, while you could argue that the generalisation of the Muslil community is not fair to make, it is the general impression witch gives these claims their own right.

Generally speaking, have you noticed that literally everything that does not come from the west is demonized by the media in a propaganda campaign? ( black people. Migrants, foreigners, non-western religions, other countries, indigenous…literally EVERYTHING). That just can’t be true. Misinformation allow the west to keep its hegemony. Based on the media narrative “good” can only come from the west. When it comes to “others” it should be bad. Its like “I am good and anybody else can be nothing but bad”. The only way to get out of the propaganda bubble is to travel and see the world with your very eyes.

@@princessfanta8247 I'm sorry that to bring it to you but I actually got my impressions and opinions from other Muslims, some of my friends are (not radical) but the most I encounter on a day to day basis is unhuman to me. Even they say what others do is bs. I won't go on a rant because I am convinced that they do not represent Islam as they say they do. And *not everyone is the same*, that is why there can be "contradicting" statement over certain groups because generalisation of groups is human nature to understand the word, subconsciously or consciously, it is part of being a human. How bad or good a perception might be can be influenced by 1 what othet people say (media politics etc) or 2 individual encounters (what my opinion is based on)

@@DamianForReal The point of his video or “message” was to advise us to not limit our interconnections to muslims only and to be more open to interacting with ppl outside the muslim community. You can rewatch the video if you didn’t exactly understand his “message”. Anyways it’s fine to have the impression that muslims do not affiliate themselves with ppl of different faiths bcuz of what’s portrayed by the media. But it’s another thing when you have a platform and tou see many muslims supporting you specifically despite not being a muslim yourself. So you become aware that the impression you had was false bcuz here you are as a non Muslim but yet gaining a lot of appreciation from their community. So Clearly stating that and then negating the statement by advising muslims against what he confirmed himself in the beginning of the video to be false is indeed very contradicting.
