Years ago, I discovered Dr. Gabor Matè’s book “Scattered”. I read it and became addicted to his work. He is absolutely brilliant. For years, I was afraid to look into his views on Palestinian rights. I was afraid that his view of Palestinians would crush me. I admired him and his work so very much..I am Palestinian. One day, I listened to an excellent talk that he gave to a group of teachers and school social workers. In the Q&A, someone asked him about Palestinian children and trauma. I felt a rush of adrenaline hearing this question. I inadvertently held my breath. Then he began to answer the question and I sobbed. I sobbed with my heart and soul. It was in that moment that I fully realized that Dr. Matè was more than just a brilliant doctor. He is an extraordinary empath. He is a man who views the world through the brilliant lens that he created through his work. I felt silly for avoiding looking into his views on the subject. He is Dr. Gabor Matè. Of course, he would understand the experience and traumas of Palestinian children. Thank you Dr. Matè. You are a living legend.

Yeah, most occupations had to be ended by armed resistance. The occupiers would NEVER grant freedom to the occupied out of their own volition. They always have to be FORCED to free the people they occupy. If he is bound to use such talking points and he is bringing on people to show the other side, that supports his claims. However, if he is in bed with them he’s a charlatan because that would be contrary to his claims of being a long time supporter of the Palestinian plight as he puts it. However, he does use the phrase “impartial” too often whilst asking most everyone that is Pro Palestinian except Dr. Gabor in this interview, if they condemn Hamas. There is no independent third party viable evidence that Hamas is responsible for intentionally killing civilians. Yet, he calls them terrorists instead of militants which is what they are, to further spread that perception of the Palestinian people and justify that Israel has a right to defend itself, which is yet another lie as they are illegaly occupying territory under an apartheid sectarian regime. He constantly talks out of both sides of his mouth often cutting people off while they speak to ask them these questions and make these statements. They talk about Jihad like it’s a dirty word or a terrorist invention. The people who call themselves jihadists or mujahidin are declaring that they fight with the permission of their lord and are bound by the laws of their faith, to protect their homes/property, families, and rights. The sharia law doesn’t permit terroristic ventures, nor the killing of the elderly, women, children, nor the destruction of buildings or vegetation or anything but a combatant. They sacrifice their lives in battle to defend themselves against their oppressors. God hates the oppressors and favors the oppressed. Look it up. But Islamophobes and racists would like it to mean suicide bombers and hijackers. Those actions are not Islamic jihad they are violations of Gods laws. Funny you derive your common law from sharia law, but you pretend you don’t understand anything about it. You plant agents in our name to do your dirty work and you turn around and paint such an ugly picture to justify genocide! But it comes back to if he weren’t a liar, then why keep doing that and not break free. He has enough followers and would gain so many more if he broke free. My one criticism of Mate’ is that he missed an opportunity to point the direction forward from colonialist genocide towards multiculturalism and equality. One reason that Mate’ can speak quickly and barely even begin to describe the 150 year genocide of the First Nations in Canada is because multiculturalism and fighting prejudice and laying down multiculturalism since the somewhat transformative government of Lester B Pearson 1963- 1968. Without Mate’, but with him as witness to what Canada is doing Canada is definitely leading the world in Reconciliation, casting a net to round up men responsible for missing and murdered indigenous women, holding public hearings regarding abuse, and establishing integration of First Nations story telling as legal evidence. These are just a few examples of progress beyond violence and experts talking. Mate’ often forgets to paint himself out of the picture which is necessary when experts weigh in.

It is not that Piers does not get it!!! He just does not WANT to get it!! I really love how Dr. Mate kept trying to tell it as it is and Piers keeps ignoring the REAL issues that have been going on for years and years!!! For a guy (Piers) who does this for a living and I am sure does his research, because he wants to be sure of the real issues... sadly does not want to get it!!
