The actual design of the model is much older than 1951 - it first appeared in a pre-war instruction manual, using the blue and gold coloured parts. At a guess the model is based on an American artic of the 1930's, both from it's general style and size. Putting the motor in the trailer, and pushing the tractor is most unusual, but it certainly works well.

Thank you John for your additional information, much appreciated. With the engine in the trailer the combination drives very well. The model lends itself for further improvement.
