Chinese companies just casually decided to show up and change the entire action figure game. The only thing Goodsmile, mafex, and Figuarts have on them is licenses, and seeing these companies get DC and Ninja Turtles I gotta wonder how much longer that's gonna last.

Yeah they've been cooking quietly for a few years now, and most of their stuff was og IP like maestro union animorphs or Xesray gladiators or 3rd party unlicensed stuff like all the Warcraft stuff from the various studios. It won't be long until their quality becomes so high and production smoothed out that license holders start directly working with them. When that time comes JP will have real competition. Even their original anime girl stuff has seriously leveled up with the things Snail Shell's just shown. I'm on one of the bigger JP collector news sites and their stuff generates a LOT of hype among JP collectors. So there goes one of the last advantages figma/figuarts have on CN toylines.

Yeah unlicensed figures can have a good price point and quality ratio that most licensed toys just can't touch. Unlicensed 3rd party offerings are the future imo.

Great coverage of what’s on the horizon. Snail Shell is really making a push with all these upcoming figures. That lady pot character is bonkers. Also, I’m really curious to see what Storm Collectibles is up to. Funny how Jada threatening to drink their milkshake got them pivoting to true 1/12 and not just making 7-8 inch figures and labeling them “1/12”

storm Collectable's larger sized figures look great and would be wonderful in displays and dioramas with the larger figures used as monster type characters. (I don't have any, but they look cool at the larger sizes.)

Memory Toys is the top tier of figures, not only are their sculpts beautiful but they give you accessories for days and you can take off their armor for soft goods. I only have their Red Orc Bounty Hunter but I'm getting every single TMNT figure. For real.

Jada and Storm 1/12 SF figs can certainly co-exist. Jada's seemingly moving on to SF6 once the last Ultra SF2 fig drops with Storm doing SF Alpha. $95 for Monsterarts Dark Magician: a 7-ish" scale figure that only comes with 8 hands, a scepter, a pair of effect parts and a stand........not a fan. Hopefully Snail Shell with I:P Masqueraina and Kaiyodo with Number 39: Utopia can better justify the price........and viewing this video made me remember that Mezco's doing an Exodia........at least I'm sure it's the main Mezco team

I can find plenty of army buildings and mechs(bandai, kotobukiya, 52 toys, armored puppet, etc.) but I’m having trouble finding generic articulated monsters to flesh out my displays. Gashapon bugs and beasties kinda scratch the itch, but I’d love something more monstrous. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

All these smaller companies are really killing it! I already preordered the Snail Shell Mummy Zombie girl. Those Ninja Turtles do look amazing. I think one big factor is that Neca/Super7/Playmates/BSTAXN has to adhere to a particular style; (comic, animated, live action, a preexisting toy) while these new ones are their own take, so you can design them in a way that makes for great figures. Glad to see Frazetta Girls has several other figures well on the way. Speaking of which, when are you going to drop your Teigra review? Wish Hasbro would have kept going with their Power Ranger line. Sure the monsters weren't always suit accurate, but that was one of the few places to get weird monsters for under $35. Maybe the Anakin looks off because they're trying to do 2005 Hayden, 2023 Hayden, and cartoon Anakin all at the same time and the end result looks weird. I hope someone cosplays a live action Eclipse ❤

Loosecollector must be over there shitting bricks right now. Overpriced figures is one thing, being a small company, but the qc issues and bad paint just won't be tolerated now that Frazetta Girls are giving them direct competition. It'll be interesting to see if LC sticks with the trajectory or pivot to doing more werewolves and monsters instead.

I said goodbye wallet when i saw Storm doing a 1/12th scale Street Fighter Alpha line. I’m in my 30s so like you, the Street Fighter Alpha and Street Fighter 3 anime aesthetic is pretty much my introduction to the franchise. I got my wishlist for characters we’ve rarely or never seen in plastic form: Charlie Nash, Cody, Cammy in the teal leotard, blue track suit Chunli, Rose, Sodom, Dan Hibiki.

It seems likely that Storm Collectables is moving into the 1:12 scale for cost cutting reasons. A smaller scale for them means less plastic and that means lower costs.
