Another R9 came for repair. The guy who sent a card for repair complained that his card gives artifacts and dies out. This card was diagnosed as gpu failure. In this video shows how we do it.
Also minimize chance of dieing new gpu we put fuses in consequence.

I absolutely love your videos! You're quite knowledgeable, and its nice knowing there are other youtubers out there that understand how most GPUs work! The content is great and I always enjoy watching. If there is one thing you would want to work on for your videos though, would be the microphone, you've got a lot of static in the background, and a tripod or mount for your camera would help out a lot.

Thumbs up for you videos Im in Queensland Australia. I have an I7 3820 running an examining XFX RX 580 8 gig. When I got it the RX 580 graphics card It ran find for over a year or so till I did a driver up date from AMD it then started to over heat And now it wont boot and goes into black screen Im now running an old R7 380 it seem to work with my game but only on very low stings I like to send my RX580 to you so you can have a look in to getting it repaired

Hey Eli how to fix card that wont allow drivers install? I install drivers , pc restarts .. at windows boot time.. artifact all over the screen.. then.. windows loads.. and no drivers have been installed.. ain screen resolution options I can not choose/ change anything! Where did you order these chips? Did you just buy used broken card in hopes that the chip itself would be fine, or you have some form of store where you buy these? I'd like to order some stuff to fix my older dead hardware but I never tried to look for these retailers selling parts for soldering (especially south bridge and chips on the boards itself. How to differentiate between artifacts and and in game render bug. I bought a card and yesterday I playing battlefield 2042 (Manifest map) & saw a flicker type 2cm line thing from objective "A" from left side to right side of a screen for split second and a random shaped small circle cube type white thing pop on right side and it gone also after a split second. GPU temps never exceeds 65c. Card looks good physically. Is that game glitch or artifacts? I don't know if I can share that video if you can tell me the difference.

i love your repair vids, i buy at the last week 3 r9 380 (first has a brocken gpu core, second have a short circuit on the drivers (dmg pcb) and the last has brocken drivers? after sold it out the drivers, the capacitor blowing up ( they are broken befor so they blow up?)

Maybe you can point me in the right direction - is there anything like a service manual for the GTX 1080 that shows the steps to debug a card with no video? I've acquired a free 1080 and so far I've forced my builds integrated graphics on so I can reflash the card bios, i've been measuring what i believe is the GPU core voltage which seems to drop as soon as windows starts loading (gpu driver must be testing and putting the card into a safe mode), and device manager gives me the absolute most generic "the driver reported a problem with this card and it has been disabled (error 43)" My next step will probably be checking if the core / memory is getting the voltage it requests from the UP9511, then finding some way to test the integrated hdmi and displayport switches that control the cards output. I probably also need to test what load the card thinks its under, in case a hardware issue makes the card think its under an unrealistic load.

Hi Eli, my xfx rx580 shows small dots and horizontal lines and flickers screen black randomly, it does this a lot on stress that the screen mostly remains black. Before this, I did furmark and PC instantly shutdown, and had random restarts. I suspect it can be PSU. Now, all this flickering and horizontal lines randomly specially on stress. If I uninstall driver and use MS Basic Video Adapter, it works fine and shows very little to no dots and lines but it does. Is it the GPU or PSU? I dont have replacements to test this :/

Hello I watched all your videos on video card repair, my bad luck hit me and my video card died and behaves like this: - it only works until the driver is installed, or most of the time it gives me an installation error, then it does not pass the windows logo. -in safe mode works but in bios displays some horizontal points. It's about this Saphire Nitro R7 370 2GB video card, can you tell me if it's worth it to repair it and which one would be defective in your opinion?

I've got a 390x which is dying on me atm, freezes in windows under too much load(sometimes hardly none) will only run need for speed payback without crashing if i restart and ONLY run the game. did not think it was possible to do what you just did i got excited but so far can not locate any new chips for the card :-(

hello two question about gpus : 1 - what king of thermal pad can be used for these memories ? thickness i mean. i have a sapphire RX470 and pads need to be replaced but i'm not sure about thickness of pads . 2 - what kind of silicon can i use for core itself not pad. what specification should i check. thank you

I'd take apart your GPU and measure the pads, every model (even from the same company) is often different. In fact, Nvidia ran out of pads on the brand new RTX 2080/2080ti series, so some of the reference cards have different thickness pads than others (which is indeed bad). Just make sure its as thick as what you measure (they are probably a little smashed down since they are used, but make sure the new ones are at least this thick, its not a huge deal if its an extra 0.5mm thick, just as long as they are thick enough to contact). For GPU paste, even basic pastes will work (I use cheap stuff all the time for overclocking since the cooler will be removed in a few days). The only thing to avoid as a beginner is: Electrically conductive paste (I was going to say liquid metal with gallium as well since it will eat up aluminum, but its also electrically conductive, so that general non-conductive statement will keep you safe). Most pastes are non-conductive (MX-4 is popular, though kind of expensive), so most are fine. As long as you go with a decent brand like "Arctic Silver" or "Thermal Grizzly" brands, they will all do good. Since you specifically asked for a spec, the spec you would be looking for is "Thermal Conductivity" (it says how easy it is for heat to transfer through the paste) and higher is better (just don't get the electrically conductive pastes, those usually do the best, but you can short things out). Also if they say "thermal resistance" on the spec, this is just the inverse of thermal conductivity (so lower is better).

Hello. I get screen tearing from EVGA GTX970 SSC when it's under load. Do you know what a problem is? V-Sync is turned on though... And monitor is plugged in DVI port using DVI to VGA adapter. very faint vertical lines are moving up and down when gaming and it gets very annoying. Any suggestions? EDIT: I tried to plug it into my TV using HDMI and screen tearing was gone.

Hola men...tengo una gtx 960 de 4gb...la misma hacia artifacts horisontal,le pase el mats y una memoria defectuosa,le hice un reflow y bien...salio perfecto pero me hace artifacts al comenzar los juego ,es decir dentro de juego de color verde y rojo con flashasos blancos y en pokos segundos crashea el juego...luego de eso le pase el benchmark heaven y la gpu crasheo volviendo al artifatc pero ahora con rallas verticales...lo que indica que debe ser la gpu segun sus videos y experiencias...a raiz de esto le hice un reflow al micro y se le quito el artifacts de rallas verticales...ahora pasa los benchmark completos sin problema...pero continua haciendo los detellos de colores dentro del juego y los cierra...reportando errores diversos...🥺🤷🏾‍♂️.....todo lo demas va bien..excepto jugar........crees que el reflow no sea suficiente y nesesite rebaling o que sea un daño en la gpu interna como tal...? Te agradeceria un muchisimo tu valoracion y concejo para mi caso... porfavor... Saludos

Hey, I have one GTX 1070 that will crash under load and when you restart it get artifacts and another 1070 that will crash under load. I will try to reflow them or is it the chip itself? I also have 3 gtx 1060's that all have the same problem. They have all relevant voltages (vcore/vmemory /memorycontroller/5v/ PCI) the chip is getting hot but no picture. After about 30-45sec the monitor detecs a signal but it is just a black screen with a really low resolution like 640x480. I installed 1 with another gpu and it was detected as faulty I could flash the bios but that didn't help. I haven't found a better channel for gpu repairs here and I could already fix some with your help. Thank You.

Why with this symptom you directly ordered a new GPU unit ? it's could come from a deficient power supply ? As the GPU go off when need power for computing... Why did you directly change the GPU and not check Power supply ? Best regards, thanks for your channel, and share your knowledge

His power supply is properly better than most users, better to have more than not enough. Best PSU I got 10 year ago a 430 watt antect and that run a r9 380 and fx8350 plus 5 hard drives. Never broke a swet, I still use it today.

@@skyoreece9805 I was meaning it could be a deficient mosfet inside the card, or a deficient capacitor, that's could'nt sustains the amp the card need when working, but working well with low amp usage. i was not meaning the psu
