3 levels of battle smith gets you intelligence vs. str/dex for magical weapons (not 4th level). So, you could take 3 levels of battle smith and the rest bladesinger and get your 9th level spells.

I really like few things about taking some artificer levels for a bladesinger: Proficiency for ALL martial weapons, bigger hit dice, con save, int as a attack ability score as a battle smith: Now we can use non finesse weapons like spear, staff, warhammer or longsword in one hand and that gives more options like PAM, crusher & booming blade abuse etc. Well heck this might my next bladesinger version :) PAM + quarterstaff + crusher + booming blade + spirit shroud and 3 hits per turn. Not bad at all..

@@jacobslinalx89 Hi. There's no such restriction mentioned in the latest bladesinger notes in the subclass in Tasha's Gauldron of everything. I wonder if you're referring to some older versions of it.

@@jacobslinalx89 Wrong. As per Tasha's latest update: "Starting at 2nd level, you can invoke a secret elven magic called the Bladesong, provided you aren't wearing medium or heavy armor or using a shield. It graces you with supernatural speed, agility, and focus. You can use a bonus action to start the Bladesong, which lasts for 1 minute. It ends early if you are incapacitated, if you don medium or heavy armor or a shield, or if you use two hands to make an attack with a weapon. You can also dismiss Bladesong at any time you choose (no action required)." You can't use a Bow or a greatsword, but you can use any weapon you have proficiency to otherwise, including all martial weapons not used two handed if you have Battlesmith.

I did a bladesinger armorer artificer multiclass. Very useful for our bank heist one shot.

I have been wanting to play Wizard but I have never been into the “full mage old Gandalf sage” type of caster, so this morning I had the idea of being a full caster who can still swing a sword & gets other cool abilities (and maybe even a pet/familiar)… Well lo and behold I Google Artificer/Wizard multiclass and your video pops up second on the list haha thanks man looking forward to this build. Honestly still kiiinda thinking about Bladesinger/Artillerist for the temp-hp cannon!!

Big fan of your multiclass builds. Thanks for the hard work! Playing a Vengence Paladin 6 / Divine Soul Sorcerer X (9 currently but taking to 14) and will almost certainly be playing a bladesinger at some point. Maybe even sooner than I would like, as we’re in the Doom Vault from Dead in Thay

i think this is the classic bladesinger multiclass. if i were to do this, i'd do something unusual like focus on melee control like with ray of frost, spirit shroud/summon shadowspawn and slasher with a returning handaxe.

I thought I was going to play a straight classed bladesinger, but it's fallen to my character to wield a dragon slayer longsword. So here I am, looking for tips on how to salvage my character and fulfill the "big stupid fighter" role in the party. Thanks for your insights on this multiclass combo!

No problem, I'm glad I could help. I've had that happen in games too, where I have one vision of my character, but somehow I end up being forced into a different role entirely, haha. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it's just annoying, so hopefully it works out for you :)

More weapons, Int based attacks, guaranteed magic items, more cantrips as well as a few non-wiz spells, like farie fire? I'll take it. Many would argue it's less effective because you're putting off Wizard casting, which I understand completely. Your getting higher level spells 3 levels slower.. But as a concept, it's amazing for a gish build. I wish Int casters had a lvl 1 version like Hexblade, but then that'd be the go-to build for wizard. This is a trade-off that I'm willing to make... Oh, and Con saves.. Mmm.

The int based attacks and guaranteed magic items are huge selling points, that's for sure.

i think the whole delaying spell progression being bad thing is taken out of proportion by many. delaying spell progression is only bad if there's something you need for your core tactics that are at higher levels (such as a controller wanting wall of force). this is a gish build whose core tactics revolve around attacking and casting cantrips. technically they don't "need" any of the higher level wiz spells as they get the ones they need at level 1 (shield, absorb elements). the only thing really that's of importance at higher level is counterspell at 5 (which they will really get anyway as they move towards bladesinger 6's extra attack), contingency at 11 and simulacrum (if it isn't banned at the table) at 13 and wish at 17 (if the game even goes that far). so if simulacrum is banned, there's no "need" even to push past bladesinger 6 and they could continue the build in different ways.

@@TheRobversion1 I agree with much of what you said. There's an internal struggle between power-building and theme, and theme tends to win most of the time with me.
@TheRobversion1
@TheRobversion1 2 жыл бұрын
@@CyclopsWasRight ah theme builder then. me, i'm more of concept. like i envision something i want to execute in combat, then i scour the classes, races, spells and feats that will help me execute that concept regardless of themes associated with the classes. for example, if i wanted to play Gambit or basically combining melee fighting with throwing something in one sequence, theme building would say i should go play a rogue. or play with Rogue. haha. concept building would lead me however to playing mainly a bladesinger with probably dips in other classes as the special extra attack of bladesinger gives me the base chassis to execute throwing something charged with energy (magic stone) while hitting with a staff sheathed in energy (booming blade with a shillelagh). then here's the kicker, i can always reflavor whatever multiclass i made as any theme i want. flavor is free! basically, i see multiclassing as creating your own unique class without needing to homebrew anything.

I don't know man, you are talking that campaigns usually only go to lvl 10, 11, 13 or smth, while proposing lvl3 artiticier dip? With that you get your extra attack on lvl 9, almost at the end of campaign, you don't really get to use that magic and sword gameplay you talked about for majority of the game. I think bladesinger without dips is best bladesinger. Even with 16 dex 14 con and 16 int, being super MAD still worth better spell and class abilities progression. Just need to take resilient con and all other ASIs to stats.
@thedungeon1578
@thedungeon1578 3 жыл бұрын
I think I suggested 1 level of Artificer, then 6 levels of Bladesinger for extra attack, then the last 2 levels of artificer. But you can do this many different ways.

@@thedungeon1578 Maybe I didn't listen good enough, sorry about that. I guess being online by level 7 is okayish, and you still have full caster spellslots to upcast shadowblade for your melee fun.
@TheRobversion1
@TheRobversion1 2 жыл бұрын
Agreed with dungeon here. delaying extra attacks on gishes are not really a big deal because they typically pack booming blade/green flame blade to mitigate that dmg loss. plus this one has a bonus action attack too. i don't see anything wrong with going 3 battlesmith then 6 bladesinger either. the build is online by level 5 anyway. at it's core the build is simply about aligning cast and attack stat while stacking on defensive buffs (bladesong, shield, infusions, armor). it's not a caster. if he wanted to play mainly a caster instead of a gish, he would've just dipped 1 artificer and played a different wizard subclass.
@PatRiot-le7rd
@PatRiot-le7rd Жыл бұрын
@@TheRobversion1I think starting with constitution proficiency is an ok compromise, all things considered, for a one level delay for extra attack. I've been playing a single classes bladesinger, and critical hits with attacks including poison, and other failed constitution saves came very close to killing my character before I ever saw extra attack. Plus, like you mentioned, using the Tasha's cantrips, the melee damage keeps incrementally increasing as the character levels up, even if extra attack is delayed a level.
