Artisan Cutlery Proponent - Monster Knife

We all know the stories of the Artisan Cutlery Proponent being a beast, but is it too much knife? Is it necessary? Is there a place in my collection for it? DO I HAVE ROOM IN MY POCKET FOR IT? (probably not...) and most of all "should I buy one" Well check out these five minutes of monstrous fun to find out ;)

Proponent. I love that knife. It’s extreme, and that’s why I like it. I have that blacked out version, full raw Ti and a full raw Ti mini. I plan to pick up the black Ti some time this year. I know, I’m crazy, but I like sets.

I got the black handles, but the blade seems like it's been acid, vinegar, or stone washed. Couldn't complain about a gift though (especially when your kids never buy you anything 🤣🤣🤣), but I had been eyeballing the one you have ...

Got this model a month ago….and another for a surprise for my brother….it’s a beast, but action isn’t bad for such a big knife. Blasts thru boxes, for sure. Way cooler than standard blade styles!

Yeah man the best part of that is it's so obnoxious that it dough obnoxious that it makes it fun but then infunction it's really really enjoyable to use so yeah it's a great knife man thank you so much for watching really appreciate it

Just got the Proponent as a birthday gift from my oldest son. Love the blade, but I think I'm about to do a minor custom contouring grind down job on the handle , just to compliment the already great feel of the knife in my hand. I feel it could have a better grip.

I love mine,have the green one.Bought the gray one for my daughter. But i am used to carry Cold Steel XL folders and large and xl Espadas. Belt knives and huge fighting Bowies,tomahawks,axes,machetes and very large survival knives etc. So have no problem with the weight or size on this one,but yes it is a larger folder and that is a good thing. I dont have much use for mini things, i dont live in a city. live rural surounded by deep woods in Norway. And for selfdefence you cant beat large, large rules in that regard.

Have you felt the G10 model? I haven't checked out the Titanium one haha I love my g10 one but if i paid 200 I'm so sure id feel the same lol... It's lighter though isn't it? lol Thanks for watching and commenting Ed!

@@EEDC i think it has to be heavier? titanium model is usually heavier. look on ebay. you never see anyone flipping the titanium model. the quality is outstanding. i have several knives i don't carry much. this will be one of them :-0

I love how ridiculous this thing is. Every time I see it I get a little chuckle. And the Batman voice is pretty damn fitting. That being said between the two I'd actually go for the proponent. Just prefer the wharncliffe blade and hell if I'm gonna get a tank I may as well get the one that can be turned into a pseudo fixed blade.

I would say (never having felt the ad10 light but felt the ad10) I think the ad10 would be more resilient but ita at a level no normal human would notice in actual use lol! Thanks for watching brotha this one was fun to make ;)

Also going to attempt my first dehorning job on a knife🤣🤣🤣& that blade was one of the hardest blades I ever tried to reshape(I always remove the factory edge and put a good old fashioned barber razor edge on all my knives, I wonder if that would be wise on such a heavy blade?)

To be honest - first of all awesome the Proponent is super cool and fun! Whether or not you put a razor edge on it... this is all for you... like if you know your going to be hacking and batoning with it lol then naw I wouldn't worry about that barber razor edge your referring to... but if it's more or less just another pocket knife that will do pocket knife tasks ... you'll be fine brotha... thanks so much for checking out the video!

I own both but prefer the Proponent. Holding both there is no doubt which is going to handle the most abuse. But that doesn't mean you can not own both and enjoy both of them. I have always loved a serious blade. I like the weight. I hear people all the time saying you wouldn't want to hike with that much weight. Apparently these are the same people who watch more TV then actually heading outdoors. You really do not want to rely on a wimpy blade that may fail you in the field. Sure I believe in having a good fixed blade. But why can you not also have a folder that is damn near as strong as a fixed blade? There are ways to save weight while hiking but the cut should never be the items you may need to sustain life. Opinions may vary but I know where I stand if I have to rely on what I carry into the wild.

Some Spydercos are from China. It helps cut costs. If you refrain from buying a big ass D2 folder at a good price simply because it says China on it, you're a loser.
