Eastman guitars really are incredible. I’ve never seen one that wasn’t absolutely stunning looking and sounding. Their other instruments are just as great also, even their ukuleles are incredibly beautiful instruments. Thank you for sharing.

Eastmania should be an annual event as good as those guitars sound. Very educational video on all fronts. They all sound very similar to their more expensive counterparts and have great tone and projection. The slope-shouldered dreadnaught with the sunburst finish was stunning to look at and the sound was incredible. It could only be better in the room. It sounds like a million records we grew up listening to, a true classic. Beautiful guitars that are definitely on my radar. If you guys have them in your store they must be exceptional. I had no idea a guitar could sound like that for less than $2,000. Good for all of us!!!

Great video! I’ve been a satisfied Eastman owner since 2012. I own 3 USA Martin’s and a E10D-TC and a E20D-TC and my Eastman’s are every bit as good as my Martins. The Eastman’s have their own voice for sure, but they are amazing values for what you pay.

Over the past few months I've become an Eastman convert vs Gibson electrics; the quality control, feel and pure acoustic-resonance of their guitars is Custom-Shop quality. My prized 2002 Martin Custom-Shop Adi HD28V is snuggled safely in its case and will never be sold, but given your comparisons between the Eastmans and the Collings and especially vs the high-end - opened-up - Cocobolo Taylor, which was probably 6-8x the price... I'm going to delve deeper into Eastman acoustics. Gibson, Martin and Taylor must be quaking in their boots.

A french polish finish is actually done with shellac, not varnish. The technique to apply it is also quite different than a hand applied varnish finish. They're both fine finishes. By the way, I have an E20D and I love it.

And, I realize that you add a little drop of oil sometimes to a spirit varnish, to help the pad slide. That isn't what I'm talking about. So, is it 5 coats of hand rubbed shellac over oil varnish over a filler/ground?

I have purchased two Collings from Artisan. Both superior guitars. Nice people to do business with. The Eastmans are , by far, the best instruments made in China- if that doesn't bother you. Remember , American manufacturers pay American wages and benefits which mostly account for the cost differences.

I own and love an Eastman Limited Edition acoustic and the Romeo. Looking to complete the trio with an SB59 or SB 56. These are truly custom shop hand made guitars than should be thousands of dollars more.

They're becoming very rare. Waiting to take delivery of an e20 D TC. As soon as you got on the adi top guitars, the mic started clipping - really big volume increase with those guitars.

It’s to bad they didn’t explain more before playing the Collings right after the E10ss/v. The E10ss/v is about $1200. The Collings is a good $4000. However, the Eastman held its own extremely well. I own an E10ss/v and it’s such a fantastic guitar. I own several Eastmans and they’re all wonderful very well made guitars. I gig with a few of them and I would put them up against anything out there.

I have an eastman E10ss, best acoustic I've ever played, such rich overtones. The finish and build quality is so great I'm now looking at selling my gibson electric and getting an eastman electric instead. basically custom shop quality for less than a standard gibson.

Will someone from eastman really tell what their varnish finish is ... before I get a little alcohol and check myself. He says "oil" varnish. It would be nice if, without getting too specific, someone from eastman clarifying the ground/filler, oil vs spirit, or spirit over oil ...basically the process? If oil, do they put them in a light closet to cure? For the price, it needs to be something pretty quick. I can't see someone spending a week a guitar to do a real "spirit" varnish/french polish. So, I'm guessing an oil varnish, with a little spirit/french polish on top, for the final few coats. I have one, and like it , but will say, don't use pledge to polish it, like you might do with a polyurethane or lacquer finish - heh heh. I'm so tempted to put a little alcohol (or shellac melted into alcohol) to it, to see.

I know this was a few year ago but I sure hope somebody since is shown you how to mic up properly and what not to do when doing a piece. Like thumping your chest where you clip-on is or moving constantly away from the boom if thats how you choose to capture audio. Of course clip-ons are the way to go for talking heads pieces but for Gods sake remember where it is and try not to keep thumping the bloody thing. Otherwise: enjoyable talk.

I have a question….one I’ve asked several sources and have not gotten a reply to date. Does Eastman have a model acoustic that has a thin neck profile similar to a Martin D42? I struggle reaching over the top of the fretboard with my thumb to grab the low e string and only once had the wonderful experience of easily holding that string down, which was on a used Martin at Gruhn Guitar when I visited Nashville. Unfortunately the price for that D42 was out of my reach but I never forgot that experience. The only acoustic neck that comes close is on one of my Yamaha’s, the A3R, which is a fine instrument but it just doesn’t give me everything I’m looking for. Sorry for the long message but I felt I need to give some information as to where I’m coming from. Oh yeah, the Martin SC-13e has a very easy neck too but is rather thin sounding compared to my other two Martins (00028EC and D35 Seth Avett artist model). That D42…. Sigh. Maybe Eastman has something close, AC922CE perhaps? Great vids btw. Funny dude and enjoyable to listen to. Cheers hey! Frankie U from Long Island

I read an experienced luthier and designer talk about the poor working conditions under which these guitars are produced. His point was that between the quality of materials and craftsmanship and the low price something has to give and you wouldn't wish on anyone to live and work like this. It sure took all the enjoyment out of playing an Eastman guitar for me. It's a stark reminder that we need to be aware that we are living in an interconnected world.

Can I add as a British citizen and an enthusiastic visitor to the USA in the past, that all countries have strengths and weaknesses, that USA did not invent the guitar, nor have exclusive rights to it. I shall soon be taking my teenage child to the West coast, but will probably buy him an Eastman LP over a Gibson, not for price but quality. I still like your burgers and music. And wonder, why in a country of 300m the choice of president is between two daft old men. You deserve better. Time for tea in Boston perhaps?

It was a little bit funny to hear you say the Taylor is “a little bit more”. I’m betting a few thousand more. Bling does not make a guitar better. There’s nothing wrong with pretty but lipstick on a pig is still…Anyway, Eastman is really bringing great instruments to the market if you can get past the idea of buying Chinese products. The people who build them are just like us. We want them to make our stuff and ignore their leaders.
