ARTISANS will only be sold by the publisher, Renegade. But the Pledge Manager is still open for late pledges until Nov 12. The KS finished a bit ago, there is still time to get it at the reduced KS price.

Roll Camera looks like the standout for me, that sounds like such a fun goofy time. I'll definitely be picking that up. Artisans of Splendent Vale looks cool too but it also looks like kind of a lot, and I don't know how often it would actually get to the table for my group.

That is pretty much exactly my thoughts. I'd like to think Artisan's would be a must, but there is lot's of commitment. Roll Camera looks like fun and the theme is very appealing. Also, love custom dice!

One thing to note about Artisans: the dice pool is shared between all players. That makes turns a lot more flexible and navigating them much more about cooperative discussion than is true in most dungeon crawler games. Because the characters are so different, it’s hard to quarterback, but you’ll want to know if another player really needs, say, a boot so you can avoid using the last one, or even use one of your actions to set them up to do what they need without relying on the luck of the roll at the beginning of their turn. Weirdly, I feel like lots of cooperative games with combat don’t feel very interactive. If you found yourself feeling like Gloomhaven’s elements gave you a really fun way to set up a pal to have big turns and push you to think about each other, Artisans provides that style of interaction as a naturally emergent characteristic of the most basic structure of turns in action scenes.

@tigriscallidus4477

Yes artisans is soooo inclusive that it can only be played by people who can read english and wo can afford 100$+ shipping and have internet and a credit card. But hey they made things which cost them nothing like making skin colour darker and wrote random pronouns down. Also using the same typical "cobstructive"/"creative" crafting jobs as most board games. You know one could also for once honor people doing other jobs, like cleaning, serving (in restaurants), teachers etc. But good for you if you (as someone who can speak english) feels included in this world, its really rare that english speaking people are included right ;)
@LizGamerGirl
@LizGamerGirl 3 жыл бұрын
@@tigriscallidus4477 wow First off you're right. Being inclusive to different people of different walks of life doesn't cost more for the artwork and including pronouns didn't cost them a thing. But as this is a minority of most games today, it is an awesome thing to see and as a woman it is incredibly awesome to have an expansive world not have women being over sexualized and under represented. I would love to see more companies be more inclusive to a diverse set of people, especially since it cost little to nothing to be so. As far as only in English, the game can be translated. But the first edition being inclusive to the lbgt+ community, women, and poc can not be changed. Jobs represented: tailor (typically considered a service role), making prosthetics for those less fortunate, architect, medice/goods and hints at food creator. Seems to be pretty inclusive and well thought out as someone who worked over a decade in retail and currently working factory I can identify with creating goods and the tailor easily. The cost of a normal game is 60-70 usd now. This is slightly more but includes a ton! I had to save up to be able to back, but that is where I put my priority. With over 50 hrs of Campaign time the cost is just over $2 an hour. Hard to find anything to do that would cost less at that rate.
@tigriscallidus4477
@tigriscallidus4477 3 жыл бұрын
@@LizGamerGirl you know you can play with a set of cards for 100+ hours? And they cost what 5$ ? Some people have 1000 of hours with terra mystica. Yes inclusive is just for minorities in america or maybe if your lucky also other english speaking people, i know thats todays meaning of the word;) Tailor is not e service job. 🤦‍♂️It is a production job as all others here as well. You know something is produced! Cloths, a really complex thing to understand. And these jobs are overrepresented, most likely because artist who also produce things and are "creative" value this more. Yes sure in "your opinion" this is pretty inclusive since you got represented. 😂😂😂

@@tigriscallidus4477 … this is the most ridiculous ramble. Inclusive character design and game theme has nothing to do with the game being universally accessible to everyone. Also, yeahC we can always support people in the service sector… what does that have to do with board games? Oh, right, absolutely nothing. No one is being excluded by not having their particular career choice being made into a game. I for one have zero desire to see a “social worker” board game, which would frankly be bleak. There are also… tons of games in the world about service jobs (like every phone app game in the world), order fulfillment, hospital workers, disease management (hello, Pandemic series), you can literally get a free print and play called THE CLEANER. It just sounds like you… haven’t looked. Of course you can buy a $5 dollar deck of cards if you want. Heck you can probably find a deck of cards for free. But no one is here to see a deck of cards. If that’s your think there’s is a whole series of videos about games with a standard deck. Just because you don’t value something, it does not mean that it isn’t valuable.

Love the SHUX previews - some wonderful looking coops. Particularly enjoy the theming of the final choice - would be wonderful to have the ‘Pandemic’ of environmentalism be a hit. Personally it’s the film making one that most appeals - some wonderful touches there.

There are very few cooperative games I really find appealing. I have just found that without the challenge of pitting players against one another the game will either be trivially easy, frustratingly hard or have rules so contrived that they ruin the immersion of the game. I think I have played maybe one or two that are decent, but they are VERY, VERY rare. The Alice in Wonderland game, for example, uses the "secret player information" mechanic. Which I have always found to be a "players can cheat to the point they feel comfortable with" mechanic. If you play with a regular group of people i.e. "friends" then you will inevitably develop a set of code words everyone recognizes, whether consciously or not, as telling everyone what you are going to do, or that you have the "good" card or the "awesome" card, or whatever. When a game IS an actual sustained challenge it is usually because of some random element that no amount of strategy can really fix.

I love the splendant vale from the looks of it but i dislike that it looks like another one play game. And from the looks of it you'd basically have to trash the entire thing after a single play through unlike charterstone for example where you can at least reload once for a few dollars XD. Maybe its just me but 1 play games don't appeal because i can't just bust it out anytime i want with player :(

I am still not sure what I should think about these kinds of videos. I really like getting a lot of games introduced especially by the shutup people, but they are soo much positive worded / sound like pure advertisement. "This game which needs 4 books instead of just one like similar ones and which has a huuugr box is soo environmental friendly because it uses painted wood instead of plastic." Just as one example. These kind of things just are making it feel off
@jacforswear18
@jacforswear18 3 жыл бұрын
They are quite literally advertisements. They are doing the marketing pitches that would usually happen at a convention, on behalf of the publishers. It is not stretch to imagine they are being paid for doing this work just like they would be paid to allow these publishers to prevent at their convention.
@tigriscallidus4477
@tigriscallidus4477 3 жыл бұрын
@@jacforswear18 it is written on youtube, that it is payed advertisement, thats fine by itself, however, this is still on their main channel, next to their often really critical videos and that just feels off for me the way these videos are. You can also pitch games and explain them in a more neutral way. Tell what the game is and eho the game is for.
