@@TheSevenFaces3 I agree, man! People can be at risk for hobby shame if they don't realize that the stuff they're looking at has required a photo session to work with its desired theme. Great vid!. I'd love to see a video on inks. I'm still not 100% sure on the exact differences between inks/shades/really watered down paint. Doesn't help some companies use different naming conventions I guess. It took me many moons to get my colour scheme for my nids. Even then the first models I painted aren't the same as the latest ones. It's certainly a fluid process. And bring on the basing tips! TUFTS TUFTS TUFTS TUFTS!

I will do a painting terms and/or different paints video at some point Bevan, sure a load of people could take some useful stuff from it. This is exactly what army I want to paint next! I want to go pale skin, mb rakarth flesh base and drybrush pallid witch flesh and snow basing and for hair ulthuan grey. And splashes of blood at the end. Is this will work well? Its bright and have some contrast.
@ArtisOpus3 жыл бұрын
It might be good to get some nuances in the shadows whether from washed or from mixing a small amount of other paints in (purple, blue, green could all work). Rakarth flesh is amazing but heavy so I'd advice mixing a layer paint with it to make it play nicer and produce higher quality final result😊🤞Let us know how it goes!

Look forward to the basing scheme video. I'm struggling because my dark angels are based on a warm Darren Latham GW style basing scheme....but I want to do white deathwing terminators and wonder if I based them in a Dark grey base if the whole army will still look good or just mismatched?
@ArtisOpus3 жыл бұрын
Definitely sounds like it'd look mismatched, dude. You can always retrospectively mix up a wash using paint like I often do on my basing videos and use that to tint your old bases in a suitable direction. Might seem like a bit of a work-around but it can often add surprising depth or nuance😊Good luck and let us know how it goes for you!

Interesting and well explained video. How would you go about choosing a scheme for an army with a lot of different units and/or materials? Could be a daemon army mixed with mortals or especially the new seraphons(!) I think it is difficult to find a uniform scheme that still allows for some overall differences between skinks, saurus, slaans, domesticated dinosaurs and lizards.
@Sacrelik3 жыл бұрын
Hi mate! This video is really good! When you mention to use yellow/orange at the beginning, would make sense to use that colour as the main highlight part of the miniature to make it more noticeable?

Really inciteful thank you and i will be purchasing a proper colour wheel now. And those wings look amazing btw and can't wait for the video on that. Quick question about airbrushes/compressors what do you use for both and was your compressor loud? I have an issue at home (wife/child 😂😂) that prevents me from airbrushing in the evenings and your compressor sounded a lot quieter than mine.
@ArtisOpus3 жыл бұрын
Hey dude, thanks very much! Iwata Smart Jet Pro - it's a workhorse, over a decade old, never done me wrong. Couple of things worth considering: Sit your compressor on foam/folded towel - huge difference in vibrations - any soft surfaces close to it will absorb sound too Good quality hose/o-rings in connections: less leakage: less running needed Don't have it next to hollow/on hollow surfaces, they'll just work like drums :) Compressors with tanks refill less often too, although some of them do it at a higher (noisier) pressure while filling the tank - smart jet plus is a £30-£40 upgraded version of mine with a small tank. Hope that helps!

For me, picking a colour scheme for both my armies was super easy, I'm a keen 1/35 scale armour modeller, and I enjoy painting camo schemes, so I ended up using historical camouflage schemes and colours, it works very very well actually, so if you are thinking of going for a camo scheme, just look at the schemes used during WW2 for example, and don't be too precious about it, historically camouflage patterns were applied in the field by the vehicle crews, so they weren't neat! This also means that lazy buggers like me don't have to think too hard about colour theory, somebody else chose the colours 75 years ago! 😅

Hey dude, absolutely I can give some theme ideas, if not specific paints: Pick a solid powerful blue, solid powerful orange (I think I used an AK orange, and a GW blue, maybe a Monument one) Highlight up toward pastel colours, shade both with the same purple for coherency, probably used Xerus here, looks like it!
