I've said this before, the most useful thing you could do is go back in time to 2004-06 when I started in this hobby and post this video back then. You'd have saved me years of paint paralysis. Now that I don't have time to assemble/paint but the income to buy a mountain of plastic, I can sit back and wish my 3rd edition 40k and 7th edition Fantasy could benefit from this.

Ever thought of doing “nail art” 😂😂Brilliant video I’ve got some crystals for basing and I’ve been putting off painting them … now I have no excuse 🫣

They look great. Just bought a Lumineth spearhead so I’m sure there’ll be crossover on all the gems! How about something about painting super vibrant colours? Like super bright greens, blues and pinks. Preferably without trick paints!

Second this. It's really nice to see some standard painting content. Love all the drybrushing and stippling tutorials, but this was equally super informative!

This has been the best one method explanation I seen. And look forward to apply the technique to all my gems in other colors.

Ahhh, I've been really into green stuff recently and am planning to give my Dankhold Troggboss (Mollog stand in for warcry) gemstone eyes so this tutorial was super helpful!

So I am trying to push my painting skills and your basic quick step by step on glazing has just clicked in my head and made it so simple to understand. It's something I have put off for a while but this honestly give me that light bulb moment 💡 Thank you 😊

Thanks for this video, Byron. Will help with the skaven and necrons I have to paint, although I need to get myself some more moot green as it appears to have separated into a weak green medium and solid acrylic

I still have a couple of un-opened Drucii Violet shades I very rarely use. This may be a reason to start using them again with the green glow effects. Thank you Byron, good video.

Cool video, and definitely going to try this when I get going with my skaven. Currently stuck with what is skin and what is fur on the rats. Not so much for the ogres, but other models.
@ArtisOpus4 ай бұрын
It's tricky bud, I think it's a genuine problem with the release, the skaven are so much slower (if you don't go slapchop/speedpaint, etc). I actually struggled on the rat ogre, too! It's strange advice but if you get a cool blend in on the feet/nose/hands (a lot of people are going a bit pinky) this pulls loads of attention... Nothing like a bit of deception!
@JABoeg4 ай бұрын
Yeah, going to try to get that blend. I think I'll go fur heavy, so now I need to learn how to do fur texture on flat surfaces.

Nice tutorial, but unfortunately I missed it. My approach to gems is a base coat of the colour I'm using and then a series of very thin black glazes from of the top 3/4 up with a couple of crescent shaped highlights towards the bottom in a lighter/brighter colour. A single white dot, or cross, where the gem is darkest. Oh, and ardcoat can be effective or gloss nuln oil can help
@ArtisOpus4 ай бұрын
The gloss varnish is a very good point that I should have included! Cheers buddy :)

Great tutorial! What do you think about the old citadel line of glazes like Waywatchers green instead of the watered down glazes you mix? Any video coming up ok how to paint glass windows?

My Vallejo game color paints bubble up when I dilute them with water. Makes glazing quite the difficult. Does the citadel paints do this too? I know you tend towards citadel paints. I guess it’s for a reason
@ArtisOpus4 ай бұрын
That's very strange, the new ones? Bubbling in your brush? If so it needs to be wetted more beforehand
@TheBugB4 ай бұрын
@@ArtisOpus to be honest I’m not sure if they’re the new ones or the old ones. I bought them last year from my LGS. It seems to depend on the color. The lighter ones (like sky blue and bright orange) bubble up more with less water and the darker colors only bubble once pretty thinned. It starts bubbling on my wet palette, with colors like orange the wet palette and a damp brush is enough for it to start bubbling without adding any more additional water. If I take from that area of bubbles (like not trying to pickup bubbles just taking from that area) it will bubble once I start painting on the model. I haven’t tried thinning with medium (I don’t own any) so idk if that will solve my problem.
