I am in the UK and have wanted to see a film showing what Richard Estes was like as a younger man for many years. I had only seen still images and text interviews, the Thom Willey interview, and the more recent exhibition lecture. I had no idea that this existed. This is an excellent interview and a real insight into his early work, many thanks for posting it.

Excellent interviewer. I agreed with his comparison of Estes and Hopper and a feeling of isolation and loneliness.

I know what you are saying, but actually if you can find other video interviews with him you would see that he is just like that in his speech and mannerisms. seriously. I recently watched 'Richard Estes: Actually, Iconic' and he still retains these mannerisms.

Terrible nterview, only trying to put words in the artist's mouth, not interested in what the artist himself actually thinks!.....but yeah, i know this was a certain style of interviewing that was popular in the 60's & 70's.
