I think that composition works well. One of the advantages of being an artist over a photographer, which is my background, is the ability to add to a composition or even leave out what you want. As for the rule of thirds, like all rules it can and should be broken😉. The sky really works well in this picture and the sheep certainly add to it as well. Love it😊

Yes it was nice to be able to move things around rather than having to stick to an exact copy of the photo :) Photography sounds like a very useful skill to have when it comes to painting! It was only when I started to talk about the rule of thirds that I realised I hadn’t done that in this painting 😂 but I think it worked anyway. Glad you like the sheep! Thank you for watching ☺️

I really love how it looks like a shallow depth of focus.

Very nice painting composition! Thanks again for the inspiration and the scenic winter walk. Your signs of Spring are a good 6 weeks ahead of Pennsylvania.

I think I’m being a little optimistic with my search for signs of spring but I always get impatient for the season at this time of year 😂 It still feels quite wintery here but it’s always nice to see an early spring flower! Thanks again for watching ☺️

Nice picture. You have great tones and colours, the sheep have great shape. The only thing I think may have been an idea was to move the tree a little to either side of it’s position as it is sitting pretty much on the centre line perhaps would have helped with the composition if it were more to the side probably to the left.

Thank you ☺️ yes I noticed the tree was a little central as I was painting it and I did think briefly about moving it. But by that point I’d painted quite a bit of it and I wasn’t sure I’d be able to replicate it so I couldn’t bring myself to move it 😂! Thank you for watching and for sharing your observations ☺️

@ it’s fine to break rules or buck the conventional wisdom sometimes.
