I was born in '91, and all the albums and artists mentioned made their way to me one way or another-thanks to my siblings or my own curiosity. Honestly they leave a mark on you, and you always end up remembering them... even comparing today's music to the old stuff. And don't even get me started on Incubus... their music has been the soundtrack to both my best and even my worst moments

The music of the late Gen x/early millennial generation is I think secondary to pretty traumatic childhoods. It was kind of the beginning of the end of the American dream. You could smell it in the air. Kids were mean! So many of those songs were about alienation. We were all labeled dirty and lazy. But here we are in our 40s, quietly making the world go around. I'm really proud of our generation.

I still remember the first time I heard Incubus. It was 1997 and my mate had just returned from America and brought back some stuff he heard while he was over there: System of a Down, Limp Bizkit and Incubus. On a drive from Ballina to Byron one night he chucked S.C.I.E.N.C.E into the CD player and played Certain Shade of Green and Summer Romance. My life changed in an instant. My soul left my body, baptised itself in the ocean and returned to me, never to be the same. I had found the Messiah, his name was Brandon, and I've worshipped him ever since. Were it not for his music, it is unlikely I would have made it into my 20s. He saved me from myself more times than I care to remember. I cannot possibly convey in words what Incubus meant and still means to me.

There are many, many more of course but Layne Staley and Mr Cornell are really the 2 I first remember seeing that truly made the mark of my Generation on the world and I can say I truly love them for it. Besides the remarkable, 1 of all talents they are obviously ❤

if you look at the book the 4th turning.....the 90's was a period of artistic creativity and happens in blocks of time. we are actually coming into that creative time frame again and I have noticed a lot more good music coming out lately.

30 Seconds to Mars opens for Incubus at the Spokane, Wa Raceway in Summer 2002. It's my first concert experience without the presence of my parents. I am 17. A woman throws her bra on stage during a song. In between songs, Brandon picks up the bra and puts it on. He then notices the quality of the garment in question. Asks who threw it. Comments on how nice the bra is and asks if she wants it back. She does LOL. Thanks for the memories and for caring about the mammories.

Love this. Makes me feel young, and old as hell at the same time being a 90’s kid. “Make Yourself” and “Morning View” are mainstays for me that come back too so often. That era of music for me was also defined by Jamiroquai’s “Traveling Without Moving” Daft Punk’s “Honework” among many others.

Anyway, Im really liking Joel in this space. Hes really good at it at interviewing people which is a skill not everyone has. This allows him to grow and fans to see Joel in a different creative space which ultimately grows his brand. I dig it. Keep it up Joel. Youre killing it in this platform..Also, luved Incubus cant wait for the resurgence. Brandons fiiine. Bring it boydLol

I agree - but it’s a bit like, you have to learn to interview (I couldn’t do it, so no shade on my behalf) but he does approach it from the right place. He’ll get better with more interviews (and I will say, this is mostly a one shot interview, when he did the Australian Voice or whatever it was, there was the ‘art’ of editing) more time, he’ll be great as long as he keeps at it.

Joel talks WAAAAAY too much and doesn’t interview. It’s a stage for him to promote his pompous and arrogant views that are limited by his unfortunately low IQ. He’s not smart, he’s not as cool as he thinks he is. Bro, you were in one of the cringiest bands around. Please, you’re no way near Brandon’s artistic ability. Interviewers ask questions. You spoke one-sidedly for the first 12 mins. I couldn’t watch anymore.
