I'm so glad you're featuring Alex Alice. I've loved his work for years and had the immense pleasure of getting to work with him in my editorial job. The Siegfried books are gorgeous, and his watercolour work is top notch.

wow no way that is amazing. I am surprised I'd not seen his work. I may have on something else but what I saw today I was not familiar with. He's a great artist@! (and I agree his watercolor is beautiful!

Alex Alice is amazing. I've been following him for years. This is the first of 3 books (Siegfried, The Valykrie, Twilight of the Gods) which are based don't he the 3rd part of Richard Wagners Ring of the Nibelung opera, which is 4 parts long. Do a search here using 'Alex Alice Siegfried animated' and you'll find a gorgeous fully animated trailer for this book series. It's truly gorgeous. You can also check out his latest series Castle in the Stars.

this art work is on another level, and if the story is on par with the illustrations, this story would be an amazing one to read/observe and to own!

Siegfried is actually three gorgeous books, bases on the Nibelungen saga (P Craig Russell also did a massive adaptation for Dark Horse years ago, which is also really good). Alex Alice also did the art on a euro-series called The Third Testament, not sure if that one’s translated, and has been working on a series called Castle In The Stars (First Second published at least some of it in english), which is like steam punk astronaut stories, all in watercolour, which is just stunning.

This is really talented, almost like the headless horseman with a slight reaper similarity. Broken swords look flawless and hands all very detailed with accuracy.

Nice art.It really is hard to tell on some of those backgrounds if it's digital or not.Either way they're very accomplished. Have you ever seen the art for Vagabond by Takehiko Inoue? Some of his backgrounds are incredibly detailed in black and white.

I'm almost positive Siegfried is a retelling of Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen. BTW there's an animated teaser/movie made of the book. Pretty sure it was by Alex Alice too. Here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpLKdmh_ormojZY
