Beautiful journals N! The part that you called crochet at approximately 23:15 is called Tatting. It is a beautiful art (done with a needle and crochet thread or a tatting shuttle with crochet thread) and there are some dedicated ladies that are trying to keep tatting from disappearing. I love tatting but do not make it to sell. There are some who do but I do not know their names but have seen them in different groups that do tatting beautifully and do sell it. It goes beautifully in journals and makes an expression all of it's own. I hope you find the right person to make them for you and you do include them in your journals. Your display of your journals and of yourself is above reproach! Have a beautiful day yourself and never lose that smile. Hugs and Smiles to you, Ms Joey

Joey WD Hello sweetheart! I knew it wasn’t crochet, it looked too intricate and I am so happy I officially know what it is and that there are some people who continue this beautiful craft, I will definitely be checking out some stores as I am excited to purchase some to give support to the wonderful women who create such beautiful textiles and lace ❤️

Amity Bloom Hello! First I just want to say that your new journals are Absolutely Stunning! I just learned of Tatting about a month ago I have been watching KZbin videos! It is done with a 5 inch or longer needle and you make various kinds of knots there is also a shuttle that can be used I purchased the items from Hobby Lobby a week ago to begin teaching myself! Yes it is from the early 1900s and not as popular as most crafts but I think it is absolutely gorgeous and I wish to help continue keeping it alive! I am glad you are aware of it and I hope you find someone who has more experience to purchase it from!

Absolutely the prettiest journal ever. Priceless. Gorgeous. The piece of "lace: you love so much is called tatting. My grandmother was an expert tatter and it was made with a small eye-shapped shuttle made of steel or bone. Grandma somehow managed to tat as she conversed. I inherited her shuttle but never could figure it out! But i also inherited pillow cases with her embroidery and tatting on them. They are so pretty. Later i found a spool full of hand tatting that just is so wonderful. I never thought about including it in my creation until today! Thank you for sharing. ❤

That lace at 23 minutes (ish) I THINK is actually tatted rather than crochet. (Although, without a close up of the actual work, is difficult to tell) I’ve been inclined to try tatting, there are you tube videos if anyone else wants to give it a go. Thanks for sharing this wonderful journal with us, Nazy - absolutely heart popping, over the moon, and inexplicitley a creation of your very heart of hearts. If that makes any sense at all🙂 Hugs! I’ll be checking your Etsy at 4pm today (west coast time) to see if one of these beauties is in my budget....

Congratulations Nazzy. Your style is so distinct. Very clever use of colour and texture of the paper. Every sheet of paper comes across as if it had more weight than average copy paper. Love that. Tatting is really easy. Your mum might it do it for your journals. I’ve seen a young woman on KZbin giving tutorials in her gorgeous forest cabin but I can’t remember her name. I’ll see if I can find them again. Her name on youtube is Rustikate.

Source for uour lace. By now, I'm positive someone has told you that is crochet tatted lace. It is incredibly easy to make, but a little time consuming. What you do is create a little circle, and then you can either use a single crochet into the circle, or just pull the thread through until the circle is covered, and move on to the next one. I developed a terrible habit of watching TV with snacks, so now I try and do something creative with my hands, like lots of small doilies or sewing paper scrap rolls, which have tea dyed paper or a strong book page as a base, the I sew on fabrics, lace, maybe a paper image, I make a big long strip, then hand sew on a button ...they are so cute. There are tutorials of creating tatting, you could give it a go. If you can find it, I'd use no. 8 crochet thread, if not, you go with no. 10

Omygoodness!! I have not begun junk/art journaling yet but certainly these serve as inspiration! My dad and mom were bookbinders, yes, and we used to stand around our player piano and sing so I remember what those piano rolls looked like. Something in there reminded me of them.

So amazing and gorgeous! Your work is so lovely. You can tell that you put so much love into your creations. The beautiful lace that you are loving so much looks like tatted lace to me. Tatting can be done with a tatting shuttle or with a tatting needle. I love all kinds of fiber and textile arts and because of that I have done a wee little bit of needle tatting. I don't know anyone else who tats but I would love to learn more about how to do it. What I have learned I learned from books and youtube videos. It is a craft that produces such lovely laces and things.
