Your work and the love you put into them are beautiful. My grandparents immigrated from Finland. She was a cleaning woman at Suomi college in upper Michigan. My grandpa worked in the copper mines. You brought many wonderful memories back to me. Thank you. Such interest in the past from such a young woman. Your family must be proud of you. Again, thanks !

I am absolutely taken with the concept of these journals. As beautiful as they are, it is the message behind these journals that is utterly moving. As one Mexican immigrant to another, it is truly touching to see such heart, strength, inspiration, and dedication in you. Your spirit shines bright and it fills me up with pride and joy to know how far people like us have come. Lets continue to bloom. 💕

Dear Amity, I find your videos so inspiring and beautiful ,they brighten my day Every time I see them. Coming from a family where we are not really sure where we are from except for my grandmother who immigrated from Poland I've always found it fascinating. I feel like you have portrayed the struggled that I have heard of from my family beautifully and so whole heartedly.

I would always here about their hard life in Poland living off of only a piece of bread a day literally. And when they came to America leavung EVERYTHING behind including their farm. Not being able to speak any English and being kicked out of schools for it. Having to work in factories with mercury and being cut and burned all the time just to scrape by. And now seeing where we are now it is truly amazing and powerful.

Nazy! Thank you for sharing your amazing talents! My heart echoes all the previous sentiments. I just wanted to say something about the paper that shows floral patterns for cross stitching and or needlepoint... My grandmother taught me how to do needlework with patterns just like these. She taught me how to iron these patterns onto linen pillowcases or table runners, napkins & doilies, even the hems of the flat sheets for her bed. Then she would crochet along the edges to add even more home-made beauty to the simple, clean white linen! What great memories came rushing back because of your journals!! Thank you; I needed that today!!

Greetings and Aloha Amity, Amazing, and what a beautiful way to teach diversity through creativity and the beauty of your Immigrant journals. We all have a story, the way you arrange the bits and pieces of ephemera, and the POEM, I am enchanted. Hawaii has some of the most diverse populations in the USA. The ideas for journaling the stories you present are appreciated and will be shared with many a student. Mahalo for being a creator of more beauty in this world.

My Mom was the Greek girl that left the island of Samos in Greece at the age of 17.... Her father was a fisherman...and she loved the sea.....she left and only saw them again 13 years later...by the way she went to South Africa and was married off within 3 months to a man that saw her at church and liked her....I was born a year later. Beautiful touching journals,

Nazzi, you truly have an old soul in a very young lady. Your parents should be applauded on their parenting skills. I have watched all of your videos and your artistic style has grown so much. I loved your stories and was not surprised by your poems. My father's parents immigrated from Sicily, never spoke English, but brought up 12 children. My grandmother was a seamstress and it was my father that taught me my sewing skills. My father was the 11th child, but the first born in America 1 month after reaching NY. You have inspired me to create a book using my sewing skills on my Italian family to hand down to the family. Thank you so much for sharing.

Oh Nazy...I am truly overwhelmed by these exquisite creations. I have worked with immigrants and their stories of undeterred courage is amazing! Even today, as we sit and complain about our country, there are others that risk everything, to come to America...the Land of Opportunity. Most of us forget how truly blessed we are to have been born here. Thank you for reminding me (us) of that fact. Also...the giveaway is such a sweet gift.

Nazy !! These were the most beautiful journals I' ve ever seen !! I am from Greece and I wanted to cry when you talked about the greek journal, I had goosebumps all the time! It was so moving, all of them where! My grandfather was an immigrant from Pontos! I don' t know if you are familiar with the history of this place and their culture! They were forced to leave everything behind and return to Greece, which is an unusual way of immigration but this is what happened and he has told me so many stories from those hard years of their lifes. Some members of his family died trying to come back. You brought memories to my mind and tears to my eyes!! We, as human nation, we have so many things in common and I am in tears reading all those amazing stories in the comments. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

As a person from the Uk that now lives in the States,I really appreciate these journals mostly because of the way I travel back and forth between the two countries. I go by a very large ship just as they did in days gone by when it was the ONLY way. Its good to think of how a country is made up of so many stories from people of different countries. You make such beautiful keepsakes!!

Please it would be honored to be in your give away, to have that pocket (or wallet) would be so wonderful. Your journals are gorgeous in so many ways. I love the textures, the colours, the stories they tell, the fabrics and how the pieces relate to each other. I'm the eldest of 7 children & my father, who passed away at 64 over 30 yrs ago, came to Australia after WWII bringing with him a battered chocolate tin containing vital documentation & a few wartime photos. My late mother was born in NZ & came here with her family aged 6. My matriarchal grandfather was of Cornish/Welsh descent & my grandmother, Scottish/French/Spanish. I should do a journal with some family history. Thanks for sharing your lovely journals. P.S. Your cute little embroidered flowers have inspired me to do some embroidery - it's been many moons since I've done so. Of course, like all of your subscribers, I'd love to win the giveaway. :)

I need to finish watching this when I have time - only got through about 8 1/2 minutes... BUT you have given me ideas! I'm second generation American Norwegian and I have needlework from both of my grandmas. I have been trying to figure out what to do with some of it since it is not recognizable as such, buried in my hope chest. I'm thinking of doing four books - one for each grandparent's side of the family. I've done a lot of research and remember a lot of stories so I am hoping to make these be treasures. I hate seeing marvelous things end up in thrift stores since the story has already stopped before it reaches those shelves. Thank you for the fodder for my stories. One of my grandmas was extremely poor - most of the children were sent to live with others after their father was killed in a fishing accident. We too often have no comprehension how difficult life can be.

How courageous they had to be. What strength their lives and sacrifices show. We can learn so much from them. Subscribed!! You are absolutely amazing definitely inspired me. I wanted to make a 2018 planner but was stuck on what area I wanted to do. I am a child of immigrants who each in turn were children of immigrants the Caribbean, African, Indian ,Native American, European there are so many stories in my blood line, I have even been hoarding fabrics beads and lace from India and Africa. The old stories, rhymes and wise words my parents would tell me as a child, lists of recipes which were simple and hearty hopes and dreams across the generations. Echoes across time. This will be beautiful way to capture all of it.My mind is just buzzing I am going to do some research and gather some documents and I can use my poetry and art to.Thank you so very much. You are a genius!!!

Awesome journals, love your whole approach of creating a story with each of your pieces. I came to the US from Mexico at the age of 10, and hold my culture close to my heart. I love all the fabrics and how they are given a new life. Keep doing your work and inspiring us all. Love, Patty

Nazy Im so in love with these journals they are my absolute favourites you've created so far . The stories of each of them touched my heart . I have 3 sons who's father migrated to Australia from Italy, with his family and Uncles and Aunts , when he was only 3 years old. Thy were from a little town in Sicily, called Calatabiano. His father was totally illiterate, they knew no English at all but still they took that long journey on that ship, with the hope of better opportunities in a country they knew only a little about. When my boys dad started school he only had a very small understanding of a few English words, he was scared due to his limited understanding and his older siblings tell the story that he would very often run away on his teacher in search of his older siblings for comfort . Just a short story of what it was like for a very strong traditional Italian family who had a dream of a better life and greater opportunities for his family . Thank you so much for reminding me that this world is made up of people who follow there dreams . Crafty hugs xx Fiona

What a wonderful imagination you have! I thoroughly enjoyed the stories you told as you flipped through your journals. And I loved the little pouches you created. We all could feel the joy that went into each stitch. I subscribed before I even got to the end of your video.
