Oh Heidi, I am so happy to watch this interview! It brought tears while listening the conversation between you and Mr. Brian Neher. I have goose bumps for each of his sayings about how he became an artist and how he strives to be better with each of his work and how he advises budding artists to feel the burning desire to do their best and not to give up. I am and have gone through similar emotional roller coaster what he is saying. I had inclination to do portraits since I was a child and I remember my mom saying , hey, don't stare at people sitting in front of you! She would correct me while traveling in Tram while she is taking me to school. I was in 1st standard at that time! i.e. 5-6 years old! By the way I am from India. At that time I had no idea about painting etc...but I did wonder how come each one has same eyes, same one nose, 2 lips, same face structure and yet each one is different! What makes them to be different. And I kept scribbling eyes, nose, lips and whatever is catching my eyes attention on the pages of my text books!!..and drawing skill improved. Yet, I was fumbling at using colors. I was feeling so frustrated! Exactly what Mr. Brian said, people give up at that stage, but I did not. Luckily I found one talented instructor in India who showed me how to use oil colors and since then I have been working with oil colors. Apart from that oil coloring technique I am a self taught artist. Want to learn more. THAT burning desire makes me look for more information from various artists and how they do their excellent work. I came across Mr. Brian's you tube videos too. I liked freshness in his work so appealing that as soon as I saw a link to join his skin tone classes in one of the videos, I right away contacted him. Upon getting his very informative response I signed up for the class. I wish I can learn a lot from him. Thanks so much for conducting this interview. Thanks Brian too for being so frank about his art and being there for budding artists to guide them. Some of my work I have at www.soundofindia.com/meera
