CL wrote Goodbye as a letter to Minzy who left the group mid 2016. CL then turned it into a song as both a farewell to Minzy and Blackjacks. YG refused to allow Minzy to be a part of the song and he refused to pay for the music video so CL paid for it to be made with her own money. A true leader.

Minzy left 2NE1 in 2016 so she’s not in the Goodbye MV other than the old footage. But of course she was there for their reunion performance at Coachella 🖤

2NE1 were the first group to be crowned monster rookies. They are still the only girl group to win 4 Daesang awards (Korean equivalent to the US Grammys) in their rookie year. Yes, 2NE1 were wrongfully disbanded by YG in order to debut Blackpink. Us Blackjacks (2NE1 fandom name) are still bitter and angry at YG for how he mistreated these queens.

Most of their song is empowering. 2ne1 was the first kpop girlgroup to ever hold a worldtour, and they actually won the title of "Best New Band in the World" in MTV. 2ne1 was also in Top 5 of Best Selling Girlgroup of all times along with little mix, The andrew sisters, TLC, spies girls. 2ne1 also was the best performer in kpop, they actually has the best stage presence of all good. Also, 2ne1 w/ bigbang brought Fashion to kpop world and paved the way for global popularity. Thanks for doing 2NE1!! New sub here. Most Blackjacks don't really enjoy seeing 'Goodbye' again or ever. Also, if you ever get to their live perfs, make sure to do the live concert versions and not the music show version. 2NE1's live concert is still unmatched, the swag, the vocals and the energy is just insane.

I love 2NE1! still the only Kpop GG I consider myself a fan of. (I mean I listen to others but 2NE1 is the only GG I watched and read everything about. Still praying/hoping for them to reunite and release new songs as a group.

They were a lot of multi layered tings that caused 2ne1 to disband but as yg was the ceo he had to be scape goat (not saying he didnt do anything bad but him being the sole reason isn’t true) In 2014 there was a huge scandal with parkbom like HUGEEE I don’t think some people realized how big it was and how much it affected the group and bom to the point she was literally stuck in the house for very long time and with other yg artists and their previous scandals it just added fuel to the flame damaging their reputation at the time now do I think 2ne1 could have came out of that and still strived Yes but also no like other people said in the comments minzy left in 2016 and the new plan was to comeback as 3 as you see in goodbye even though it was a farewell song and in my opinion 2ne1 has/had to be 4 nothing less So when people say that yg could have handled the scandal better and that they could have prevented the Korean public backlash at the time the scandal was police involved like case an investigation it did get eventually sorted out but the damage was already done at the time and yes 2ne1 was still loved and still famous and still would’ve been big if they didn’t disband but the disbandment wasn’t solely yg fault morely yge fault as yg was one of the persons who was against 2ne1 disbandment and I think the girls new that as well with cl and Dara resigning with yg after disbandment (now was the management after that the best, no not all, was the focus on another girl group who I do love by the way,Yes ) But that was just my point to sum it up they where a different reasons and a number of variables that caused there disbandment , the scandal , the hiatus ,member leaving, Korean public reaction, the board of directors at yg (since they also have a say in the direction of yge), the focus on a new group ,etc , was it right to do so idk bout yh that’s all I had to say
