This performance was from about March 2015 when Angelina was 9. Even at this age she was already kind of a veteran. At 7 she entered Norways Got Talent, having turned 8 by the end of the competition. Also at 8 she appeared live at a concert singing What a Difference a Day Makes. Sang for the Nobel Peace Prize recipients concert (for the first time), appeared on the American television show The View, appeared in an episode of the Netflix series Lilyhammer as a singer in a jazz club, released a 3 song Christmas maxi-single. FYI, for some reason this video was not uploaded to KZbin until a year and a half later by which time Angelina had done even more

Angelina was 9 years old in this performance - Her nationality is Norwegian but is fluent in English even at this age - This song was not arranged for her - she wrote the vocal arrangement based on listening to the original Screamin' Jay Hawkins version and communicated to the band how she wanted it to be played - in fact, at the beginning of the video you see Angelina writing down some last-minute changes and it is read by the bandleader. You also notice that her own handwritten notes are on the music stand in front of her as she sings. For more insight into how Angelina works, here is a rehearsal video with some of the same band members at the same age (9 yrs old) - You will see that she is aware of what each musician is doing and communicates to them what she wants to do. The first thing she says is that she wants to start, followed by her saying she wants to start over, later she tells the pianist that the key is too low and that she wants to raise it a half-tone, then at the end of the song she changes the ending on the fly. The spoken language is Norwegian: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bmHJZKdpmdJ1mM0

Certainly, context is everything. Angelina is an artist that may not go really big and dazzle you with soaring high notes in every performance. Although she is quite capable of that and does hit the big note when appropriate, she instead prefers to do exactly what the song needs in any particular situation. She is known as the girl of 1000 voices. I was slow to begin to appreciate Angelina. I was like many introduced to her with the AGT performance of Bohemian Rhapsody. I loved that performance but unfortunately was not aware of any of her other videos until 2 years later when KZbin offered me the video you just reacted to, I put a spell on you. From there I started watching others, becoming more and more impressed with her range of influences and ability to convey emotion. To me she is much more than a few really big notes. For a young girl just turned 18 years old she conveys the subtleties and feeling in a song like few artists of any age are capable of. And she is also a sweet, caring soul that is rare among today's artists. Please continue to explore her catalog. Subscribed.

You weren't wrong my friend but because you started with Angelina at 17 singing "Unchained Melody", it gave you a different perspective. Angelina at 17 if you had known her backstory and her wonderful performances from the age of the age of 6 to now at 18. You'll understand what her fans who are known as Angels have always known about our beautiful barefoot princess Angelina Jordan. She is an extremely humble, sincere, compassionate and loving soul. She has jazz infused in her DNA through her grandmother Mery from the crib singing at one and a half years old with mentors like Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra with modern mentors like Adele, Amy Winehouse, Norah Jones, Whitney Houston, and the great Elvis Presley. Her vocals in her 250 covers and originals will resonate with these voices for sure, but Angela has a distinct and unique voice that is able to storytell in such a way. That is so wonderful to witness. Angelina has raised over millions of dollars for a children's charities and as singing for crowds of hundreds of thousands of people , for royalty and at many important events like the Nobel Peace prize. She won Norway's Talent at the age of eight, published the best selling children's book in Norway at the age of nine and is now signed with Republic Records.and is their most coveted young artist to date. They are so impressed with Angelina and they built her a recording studio to develop her musical skill and composition. My friend. If you want to hear her doing a quite sassy song as an older singer you may want check out the live version of "Mount Everest" which she did in Kongsberg, Norway when she was 16 years old (2022). There you can realise her vocal potential pretty well. There are many other examples but that is a pretty good one and it is a true live recording also. Her rendition of Unchained Melody in Nobel ceremony was very subdued in comparison with many other performances she has made. She can sing in so many different styles and her dynamic range is very wide, as well as her vocal range. When she was 10 she sang a very strong rendion of "Feeling Good" (Nina Simone) in Norwegian tv and when she was 12 she sang a mind blowing rendition of "It's A Man's World" (James Brown) in an outdoor concert in Norway with the Norwegian military orchestra playing behind her. Also this orchesta was very strong. All these and many other performances can be found in KZbin. I can say for myself that after I had listened about 50 songs from her at many different ages (7-16) she still after that could surprise me every now and then with some new capabilities when I went through the rabbit hole. She is a very creative singer and also music arranger. Her versatility is really something quite exceptional, I think.

Angelina is my all time favorite singer storyteller. When you listen to a singer covering a song, it is normal to have the original artists' version for comparison. George, when you chose Angelina's performance of "Unchained Melody" at the Nobel Peace Prize concert, you had no idea of the things which influenced Angelina for her arrangement. "Unchained Melody" is such a classic song, with everyone expecting to be wowed with the dynamics by each singer. Angelina only had one goal with her arrangement, to convey the LOVE Narges Mohammadi has for her twin children and for all the women of the world. I believe Angelina accomplished her goal with that performance. For "I Put a Spell On You", Angelina closely followed Screamin Jay Hawkins original with her arrangement. As always, Angelina conveys the emotions of the song.

Great reaction again I subbed on your last reaction to her, because I knew where you were coming from and by which "filters" you were judging through. I knew that we had more in store from you IF you weren't chooed away. And here we are. I hope that you will continue with her, because I really think that she both as an artist and person AND her music style(s) can give you a lot. I also like to hear that you respect those genres you mentioned, despite them not being a part of your daily music driver. But those styles were the founders for what we have today, and I am one of those who believe that to really appreciate what we have today, we benefit greatly from knowing what was before. There is a definite and distinct evolution in music. With everything really, but ABSOLUTELY no less in music. I just quickly have to remind you that Angelina does a lot of different genres, she has done at least 8 genres by now (including EDM), and she has a LOT of covers by very contemporary artists as well, and she slays it all. I have been following her for a little over 10 years by now, and I really think you would like to react to her black and white studio recording of Easy On Me. Original by Adele. In my opinion that one really showcases a lot of her abilities and capabilities as a singer. Angelina signed with Republic Records when she was 14, and this was recorded in RR's studio in Los Angeles. Angelina was 15 years old, and she was accompanied on piano by RR's artistic director, Mr. Rob Christie. He is a multiple Grammy winner himself and has been accompanying her on quite a few of her performances so far. Take a look at it and see what you think ?? Much love from Norway

@@Blue-Dog you have said something interesting. Having had a wilful child with a 164 IQ who started to teach himself to read at 2 thanks to Sesame Street, I will say, it is as difficult to steer a course through the educational system as if your child has a learning disability. Academically my son was ahead and worse still his academic abilities matched his physical height and looks. Luckily his son does not have the same problem as he is little and cute. My son as a child was constantly punished for the normal age appropriate lack of attention and squirming yet never praised for his achievements. He once had been kept in for every break in a 2 month period yet his teacher could not explain anything he had done that was not the normal behaviour for the rest of the class. She had not even realised this until I asked that question. He was perceived as if he should be better, be an example, and if not perfect he was naughty. Emotionally he was young and on the immature side for his age despite the vocabulary of a 30 year old. Precocious children often have this problem. It's not a liked trait even if not accompanied with dislikable behaviour. It seems to give adults carte blanche to justify open criticism over every little thing. As if because you are gifted with talent you are not allowed mistakes or imperfections. No wonder so many child stars go off the rails. My highly accademic son ended hating school. I chose my battles with him. I was not permissive yet did not control things that were unimportant like the way he dressed. Curfew, attitudes to drink or drugs as he was older those were important inflexible rules. Enforceable because I had not created an environment where the only freedom he had was to rebel.. If he had chosen to dress like a giraffe I would have made a joke, but that was it. I presume your children are young. You still have delusions of complete control.

Another spell was cast by 9yo Angelina. Let’s analyze the video: 1st you see how small and cute she is. 2nd you see she is barefoot (story below) 3rd You see her making her “Wish List” of suggested changes to the song. 4th the band leader taking note of the changes. 5th Angelina is holding a candle with “Screemin’ Jay Hawkin’s (original artist 1956) picture on it. 6th the old soul in her voice. She is the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina wrote and her Grandmother illustrated a book about why she sings barefoot. She was on a trip to Iran where her grandmother is from and met a street girl weighing people for money. Angelina sat and talked with the girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, a doctor but that it could never happen. Angelina told her to never give up hope. The girl complimented Angelina on her shoes and Angelina noticed her scarred bare feet so she gave them to her, and the little girl told Angelina she would pray for her every day. Angelina sings barefoot to this day to remind herself (and the world) that there are still children in need. All book proceeds go to charity.

Despite all the incredible things Angelina Jordan did on this track, specially coming from a 9 year old girl, the thing that stood out to me from the jump, was how focused she was,you could see it on her face, this wasn't some little kid goofing around on the microphone, she was serious,in the zone. Angelina Jordan was born for this

Thank you so much for coming back after the roasting your got! She is indeed amazing here, but this was not when she first appeared on the map. That was at age 7, when she auditioned for Norway's Got Talent singing Gloomy Sunday, by Billie Holiday. If you're not familiar with the song, listen to Billie Holiday's original first and then compare with Angelina's. She has over 200 songs on her channel, all amazing, but now that you've heard both her earlier and her later stuff, you might like to check out something from when she was 12, where she sings It's A Man's World in concert with the Forsvarets Stabsmusikkorps (military) band. I'm glad that you have now had the opportunity to enter into the world of the bare foot princess! But, this is only the beginning of the experience that awaits you if you explore the output that Angelina has produced between the ages of 6 and 18. You will be deluged with comments from AJ's extremely enthusiastic fan base who will have suggestions for what to do next and acquaint you with the wonderful history of this amazing young woman. If you so choose you have a plethora of opportunities. You could look at her performances at age 7 and 8 on Norway's got talent. You could explore her jazz concerts at ages 10 and 11 ("Feeling Good", "Lovin' You", "Diamonds are Forever" . . .}. You could watch any of her many beautiful at home videos accompanied only by guitar ("Stay", "Crazy", "How Great Thou Art" . . . }. Then there are her early originals ("What is Life", "Oslo", "Shield", "Seventh Heaven", "Million Miles"} and her covers done at 14 and 15 ("Billie Jean", "Easy on Me", "My Funny Valentine", "All I Ask" . . .). Not to mention her last couple of years with her Norwegian Concerts, appearance at the FIFA awards, and the release of her new EP, "Old Enough". Let's see; I left out her 2021 Christmas Concert, her performances in Seoul and Japan, her leaked recording of "Still Holding Out for You" and . . . . . On February 29 she had two concerts in Las Vegas. Many of those songs are available on James Thiel’s channel (www.youtube.com/@summaEngineer). She is currently collaborating with Toby Gad and today released a redo of “If I Were a Boy” with originals to follow this summer. Yes, Angelina is an amazing talent and a wondrous interpreter of songs. And, in addition to that, her whole story is chronicled in detail from 1.5 years old until today on KZbin, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook! As a result, many of us, especially the elders among us, have adopted this Norwegian girl as our honorary granddaughter and spend a bit of each day reading about, listening to, and taking pride in her growth as a singer and as a person.

George, I don't think for a moment you were offended by all the comments you received after listening to the 'Unchained Melody' video because you were probably stunned by the number of comments you received and their content. The depth of the content had to blow your mind to such a degree you must have said to yourself, "Wow, wait a minute. What just happened? What did I miss?" I'm sure most of the comments were not intended to be negative (including mine) but rather to encourage you to listen to more of her so you can get an idea of what she can do and what she has done. The 'I Put A Spell On You' performance was VERY unique, to say the least, and it stands alone. If you continue with her you will understand she is all about love and she interprets the message of love in every song she sings and it's a very good chance you will feel her love inside you (and you will know when that happens). That's all I have right now. Her angels will be sending you all kinds of video's they want you to react to and the video's are from performances when was 6 to the current day (she turned 18 on Jan 10th, 2024). Two places you might want to go to is Angelina singing Elvis Presley and Angelina singing Adele. Take care. I just subscribed.

The Angels can have some sharp edges on their wings, but don’t let that bother you. I’ve been following Angelina for about six years. The only reactors who are not blown away by her are the ones who have seen only one performance, possibly, that wasn’t their style. Angelina inhabits different genres completely and authentically. This stunning take on old school blues is a one-off. She never sang it this way again. Try her cover of Bohemian Rhapsody on America’s Got Talent to understand her range of genres and her ability to take on iconic songs, but give you her own version that you’ll never forget. She’s 13 for this, and it’s one of the best live performances I’ve ever seen. Here’s the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3eTe4lobduagtksi=5CNm32148_KmqHiV

Dear sir, this video was the "wildest" she did. She got famous at age 7, with "Gloomy Sunday" a Billy Holliday cover. She won "Norways Got Talent" in 2014, just barely age 8. After winning she was invited to a TV-Show "Al Sang Pa Grensen" (All sing along at the borders) and sang "What a difference a day makes" in the voice of singer Dinah Washington. About 3 weeks after that, the people of Norway declared her The National Treasure of Norway. Did it go to her head? No, it did not. You will discover many gems in her music-videos, originally meant for checking herself for singing. During the time between 2014 and 2020 she gathered (together with other artists) around 30 Million USD for child charity and other causes, like the Norwegian Salvation Army. God bless you, young man (I am 64), be safe and happy. Elmar from Germany

Thanks George for both of your reactions... I've found that AJ never sings a song the same way, maybe because of the embellishments/runs/melisma she uses or, the back-stories/context behind most of her songs/covers... The best song to answer your thirst for Talent show Song example would be "It's A Man's World" (James Brown)... 12yo AJ gives you 5+ Belts w/comebacks with no strain at all...The recording is at an outdoor Fortress venue, I believe, on the Norway/Sweden border... All recordings were with cellphones as professional gear was not allowed but the takes were surprisingly GOOD (and bad)!! kzbin.info/www/bejne/fnbQaKd9p898gc0 She is Confident and Fantastic in this setting!!! Angelina looks like she belongs there because she had been in the studio for 3 years by this point. So NO, I PUT A SPELL ON YOU was VERY much NOT the beginning. Alright, here is what you should see next . . . All Angelina Newbies have a very short "Required Reading" list of just two songs. I PUT A SPELL ON YOU was one; the other one has 1 0 1 M I L L I O N views : 👉"Angelina Jordan - Bohemian Rhapsody - America's Got Talent: The Champions One - January 6, 2020" 👈(that is the title). Following Bohemian, you should take a look at her generally accepted True beginning at age 6, in the studio for the first time, in the video entitled : 👉"Angelina Jordan - I Who Have Nothing - Complete performance (subtitles)".👈
@most2dot06 ай бұрын
Contrary to what many fans believe, I Who Have Nothing was actually recorded in early 2014 when she was already early 8. That can be determined by comparing the state of her permanent teeth to known references, like her NGT performances. I explain this in more detail in a community post, with still pictures from various videos for comparision. It was also not her absolutely first studio recording as some say (there are some uploaded when she was 7). It was just the first take on this particular title. That does of course not take anything from her in respect to being an incredible gifted child prodigy! Jim, I suggest you'd have a look at my 2013/2014 recap video, where I explain in the last 6 minutes why many of her videos have a wrong age indication. You'll also see there back to back scenes from her young studio performances, where it can be clearly seen, that those were not done at the same age, and that one must have been the latest.

Hi George, thank's a billion for this seconde reaction to Angelina Jordan. And yes - don't "rush" means also: Don't think you have to be fast by using these "All-performances-of-NGT"- and similar compilations... most of them are edited/cut and you don't get the genuine video. Sometimes they use shortened versions where they cut of importand parts... So - for example - watch out which version you take: From "I'm a fool to want you" which in Norske Talenter AJ sings a capella; there is a shorter version because there are 54 seconds cut out. And these 54 seconds are so good - even with speaking in - but the good thing of this version is, that you can't hear that there is something missing: AJ hit exactly the notes even after nearly a minute... Judges' Cut-Off with all of AJ's singing: "I’m a fool to want you": kzbin.info/www/bejne/gonOn3-QedSFjLM The version, where at 1:13 is the cut where 54 (or 43) sec. are missing and you don't hear it...: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bH2slISCasx_pbs ;-) And for to review her development you should AFTER reacting to her version on Norske Talenter react to her studio recording footage at 11/12(?) yo: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXjbYZegjbmLh80 If I say that this is fantastic it would be underestimate her talent, her musical and vocal abilities… Have fun and CU soon with your next AJ reaction 😃 Andreas 😎

Great reaction George 😊 To do AJ in chronological order is difficul because she has done so many covers + her original songs so you won't be done in years 😅 My suggestion for next reaction would be AJ's rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody in AGT Champions 2020. Is is 13 in this preformance so you'll jump 4 years ahead. But, for many YT reactors this is normally the 2nd reaction to AJ 😊 After that I would also suggest, Feeling Good at age 10 😊 Looking forward to next reaction 😊

I only did it after listening to fifty or so other songs by her.😊 Another way to see the versatilty of her artistry is to simply listen to one of her concerts. She goes effortlessly from one genre to the next going from song to song. Yes, at that age you'd want to avoid those kind of songs cause your voice won't be able to take it on yet. But she didnt accept these boundaries and pushed hard to do it anyway. She's using lots of techniques to create these sounds here. An adult and fully developed voice probably wouldnt need to use those to work around her age. She's mostly self taught so I assume she figured out all by herself how to do most of that. As they say - Where there is a will, there is a way🙂

To learn that at such a young age and do it so well, I have to assume she is a savant of some sort.

@@GeorgeTheCloud She clearly seems to have a natural understanding for it. And she has a drive most other kinds cant comprehend. She said at age 3 she watched one of Simons Talent shows and decided she'll sing for him. Her mum obligued but probably didnt take it very seriously at first. Yet she stubbornly marched on, learning anything and everything there is to be learned. She was even self aware enough to dismiss ppl suggesting her to attend a talent show, saying she's not good enough yet. Locked on target, baby ...
