Great review George. It sounds by the way you spoke, that your dad is gone, but I bet he would have loved this version too. I had a similar reaction as you the first time I heard this. I love Andrei and knew he’d kill it once he got rolling, but I’ve seen Sofy in many videos and never saw her like this. Much tamer. She just got animated here and let herself go loose and she did an awesome job. When Andrei first came into my radar he was still in high school, and I had the same immediate reaction as I did with Emily. He became my favorite guitarist right then, just as Emily did the first song I ever heard her sing. With both Andrei and Emily, there’s just something I sensed that told me they were going to be a force to be reckoned with. Sofy has done a few songs with Shut Up & Kiss Me, and I believe with another group Andrei put together called the Wow Girls. I’ll send a couple on my next list.

Well, good to see you, watched Carol of the Bells and Ain't No Sunshine. Glad you are checking out VoicePlay too. Yes, I've had Tennessee Whiskey, started by my parents who had to deal with lung/throat issues that kept me out of school about 6-8 wks/per yr. They would bring in the whiskey/or brandy laced with honey. When I finally graduated and had my own place, those issues went away - all due to cigarettes they smoked. By the way American whiskey is always spelled with an e whereas European whisky comes without the e. Geoff has been doing solos since covid made it impossible to tour. He does about 1 video/month so it's coming up on about 60 he's done. VoicePlay is about the same schedule except they started in 1997, so there's a lot to choose from. The original members from middle and high school days are/were Geoff, Layne, Earl and Mykal. They added a beatboxer (Scott Porter) and changed their high school name from 4theLove to 4:2:Five (5 members). After about 5 yrs he left for Broadway. A couple of years later Scott Porter left for an acting career. Layne had been the baritone but he really wanted to learn to beatbox. Geoff taught him what he knew and Layne ran with it - now considered one of the best. The group went through the baritones until they found Tony Wakim, and Eli (like jelly) Jacobson doing tenor music in rock bands joined in 2010, he was the first guy singing in Tn Whiskey). Tony really wanted to get into production so he left the group but he and Layne bought Pattycake Production studio. Tony mostly runs it with some help from Layne. Most of Geoff's solos are done there as are VoicePlay's videos. When Tony went into the studio, the brought on J None (2nd fellow singing), Geoff you know, next was Earl, and finally (Layne the beatboxer). Shortly after Earl left the group for personal reasons. With Earl gone, and a few months later, J None was in the US Navy chorus, they chose Cesar De La Rosa (does both tenor and baritone) giving them 4 vocalists. They are located in Orlando, and all members have performed in Disney World and/or Universal, so they bring on featured guest vocalists that fit which video they are doing.

This song here goes back to the 40’s I think. I didn’t research it, but just going on the sound and tempo it sounds like something Sammy Kahn might have written, but you’d see his name if it was his. At least you pretty much sang in tune 😅. Dean Martin was a great singer, but not a songwriter I don’t think. You might know a couple of his songs but not realize it’s him singing. He is famous for a couple of them. One is called ‘That’s Amore’. The first lines might sound familiar: “When the moon hits the sky like a big pizza pie, that’s amore.” Another popular hit was ‘Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime’.
