I love the house. People have to understand, settlers back in 1840, were self sufficient. Went to town, maybe once a year. Had chickens, pigs, milk cow, horses and utility wagon, plows. God Bless them. They made a strong, self reliant nation, called America The Beautiful.

Some homes [not “…Houses!”] have Character. This is one of the few I’ve EVER seen that has it SO BEYOND that quality..!!! I’m in my 60’s now & grew-up running around my Grandad’s Southeastern GA Sawmill, where he repurposed 100+ year aged Southern Yellow Heart Pine into flooring for multimillion dollar homes. For him, it was a lifelong passion. I’ve inherited that love of aged timber used & reused for Americana’s Heritage ~ this dream site suits such visions! Thank You, Brad, for sharing this with the whole of us… 🇺🇸 PS: Majesty’s definition lies in these woods, stones, earth, water and human toil & sweat.., IF you were to take just one of those elements, this Majestic Homestead would fall into ruin. Thank The Lord that this Home has remained kept!🇺🇸

Actually the saying “God willing and the Creek don’t rise” is a southern saying talking about the Creek Indians from back in the old days when there was a distinct possibility of a Creek uprising at the time and it is something that has just stuck down here.

Yes, so now I had to look it up, fascinating stuff. Benjamin Hawkins, an Indian agent (principle agent for the Creek Indians) is noted for this phrase. He (b15aug1754-d6jun1816) was a planter, statesman, delegate in Congress and a Senator- NC. appointed by President George Washington as General superintendent of Indian Affairs(1796-1818 / but he died suddenly in 1816)... he negotiated one of the longest running peace treaties with the Indians... but unfortunately the Indians were losing so much land, they had an uprising coinciding with the War of 1812... the Creek war 1813 - 1814, Andrew Jackson defeated the Red Sticks (Indians from the Creek Indians that formed The Red Sticks) in the battle known as the Battle of HorseShoe Bend. Interesting history ... I found two really nice sources just learning this by reading about it from this post. A wealth of knowledge our internet today, the biggest library at our fingertips;) The phrase history: www.phrases.org.uk/bulletin_board/31/messages/316.html Benjamin Hawkins history: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benjamin_Hawkins

Broccoli, Cauliflower, corn, squash, potatoes (sweet potatoes too, and red!), strawberries, I'll bring along my blackberry because it's such a wonderful producer...ahhhhhh! Know that you have to adapt your lifestyle to live this way. Work from home or self employed? Central Kentucky can get some winter weather but it won’t be on the ground long. More of an inconvenience than a problem. If you take an income hit that may work out since your taxes and other expenses go down. Your wood stove saves energy money. Have a nice manageable garden then can in the summer. Wish it was mine!

Talk about being out in the "boondocks"! Beautiful, charming and very serene! Love it, but not looking to move. Grew up in the summer in my late grandparents house on Cape Cod built in 1776 so love old houses! We didn't have any doorknobs either, just black wrought iron latches which I also love! Only things I'd add would be a dishwasher and washer /dryer so I wouldn't have to take the clothing down to the creek and beat them against the rocks or drive to the nearest laundromat! Also, love Dutch doors and fireplaces in kitchens! Thanks for sharing~

thomascampr Yes, it’s public maintained. I think he said four times… I kept saying “you already said that“… It’s maintained by the county up to the two track part. That’s really far! But that was six years ago so it’s gone…

Brad, thank you so much for sharing this truly beautiful property. I owned mountain property in the San Juan Mountains of CO and just can't seem to veer from returning there. Your video almost made me reconsider. Great video and I even like the road leading into the property as it would make looky lou's turn around. I'm searching for seclusion.

Looks great. The difficult access makes it even more unique and attractive. They have properties in the Rockies that you can only access 4X4 during winter. Get a serious gen set, stock up on the spirits, beer, booze, build in your brick pizza oven, what more more could you ask for? Great getaway for winter especially.

Hello, I'm broken hearted at 2:53 a.m. because this is almost 7 yrs old & Judy now seeing it. This IS my dream home. Please let me know if it ever comes back on the market. And don't be cruel to people by leaving it on this longgggg. I'm retired and pray I have at least 15-20 more yrs to enjoy solitude in the woods. I'd be cleaning up that creek, put a little dam in, stock some trout, have a couple sheep, geese, goats, chickens, maybe cow or horse and sleigh maybe. Definitely dogs to keep me company while I design & make quilts. This was a terrible tease for me at this hour. I LOVE it!!!! But thanks for sharing or I would have never seen it. Blessings and Merry Christmas 2019, L :)

@@BradSimmons It’s definitely very nice. Little too much grass to take care of. Though I’m sure it would be nice and peaceful on a riding mower. I love the homes and barns… and especially the lake. I definitely could see a lot of potential for my recording studio. Though I would probably build something right on that lake, with windows fronting it along with a deck, so I could get the Lake view from every room. As much as I see the potential, I think for me personally it would be too much work. I think it will be an incredible property for somebody who has more inspirational aspirations. I appreciate the thought in including me to see it. Definitely keep anything like this coming my way. And if you ever see that place along the creek go back up for sale, please make me first on your list to contact. As I will be on the first plane there to sign the paperwork. There’s just something about that place that not only felt like home to me, but it reminded me of my grandmothers place when I was a kid… Which was, like that property, surrounded by a creek and a waterfall. I truly appreciate you thinking of me and I cant wait to see more & maybe find my next home. Thank you again for all of this hard work. You definitely earned all the success.

yes. about 1.1% of value. So if the property is 300k, taxes will be approximately 3300/yr. very reasonable.

@@IgnatiusCheese if your in California you need to run for your life. I just left there 4 years ago. What a messed up place. I got stuck there for 5 years because of a car accident. I was a passenger in a car that got hit by some rich idiot. And my loyer screwed me out there. Anywhere in Kentucky cheaper than there the whole state of Kentucky pretty nice. If I was going to move there from the center of state to the west side really nice. And wild game every where. You can eat of your front yard.

An excellent video, with commentary that enhances the showing of a very special place. Never without it's peaceful atmosphere, the property is an oasis from the modern world. The calming sounds of the babbling brooks, the birds eye view of the local wildlife, the marriage of a building to it's surroundings in perfect harmony, Sugar Creek Cabin is truly a gem. The house is a joy for old log cabin lovers. It is actually larger than it looks from the outside, and is packed with all the authentic rustic detailing, including two cozy fireplaces. Year round dwelling, or a weekend getaway, some family is having a blast owning this one!

It's really beautiful but having lived in remote places in Scotland I would be interested to see exactly how much maintenance goes on in the middle of winter? Not that it would bother me but a !ot of people can't take the isolation... I would be in there in a heartbeat! I would love this place ! I do love this! I would rebuild the barn or what you said, as I have horses. I would have it off grid and on solar/water wind power. It's gorgeous! Oh this makes me wish I lived over there! It's gorgeous...
